Wanting to explore Aoraki National Park and Lake Tekapo, but want a more personalised and tailored experience? Look no further than our private Mt Cook day tour from Christchurch.

At 3724 metres, Aoraki Mt Cook is New Zealand’s highest peak. As a sacred ancestor for local Ngā Tahu iwi, Aoraki is more than just a mountain. He and his brothers’ story is arguably one of the South Island’s most important Māori legends, speaking to the dramatic formation of Kā Tiritiri o te Moana (the Southern Alps).

Escaping the hustle and bustle of Christchurch, this trip adventures via the Canterbury plains, State Highway 79, the world famous Fairlie Bakehouse, Lake Tekapo, and Lake Pukaki before arriving in Aoraki Mt Cook Village. You will be driven in comfort by our modern, comfortable Mercedes Sprinter (or similar) packed with the extras to make the trip that bit easier. Led by our fun, knowledgeable, and passionate tour guides, this journey is fully customisable and is one you will never forget!

Mt. Cook is the bomb. The fog was pretty bad in the morning (winter) but it burned off mid day and the rest of the day was awesome. Don't skip the trip to Tasman glacier, it was a bit of a dodgy hike to the top with ice/snow but the view was the pinnacle. Our guide Jakob was great. We like to ask a lot of questions so a private tour works for us. The fairlies bakery rocks. The sweet bakery items were world class. It's a long day but Jakob made it worth it

Before this tour — we drove from Queenstown to Christchurch so we basically saw and taken pics of Lake Tekapo and some other scenic views along the way. We overestimated this tour because it was considered private and before this we also had a private tour but with another company to Milford sounds. We had a wonderful time and our tour guide on that other tour was informative, exceeded and met our expectation for a private tour. So, we went onto this tour with CheekyKeaTour, expecting the same treatment but unfortunately we didn’t feel it and we felt like we could have made the drive to mount cook ourselves. The tour felt kind of rushed. I would only recommend this tour IF you are not traveling from Queenstown to Christchurch via your own car. But, our tour guide was accommodating in some degree.
