We are Libby and Zak Bound, a Falkland Islands-based couple with a deep passion for our incredible islands and their fascinating historical polar history. Zak is particularly connected to this rich heritage as the son of Mensun Bound, a renowned marine archaeologist born in the Falkland Islands. Mensun made history in 2022 when he was tasked with finding Sir Ernest Shackleton's legendary ship, Endurance, in the Weddell Sea, an achievement that has captivated a worldwide audience, adding another remarkable chapter to the region's storied past.

5.00Zak, a passionate, knowledgeable and personable young man provided an exceptionally well-prepared tour though was able to deviate from his usual approach in response to our questions and comments. As such, with a long family history in The Falklands and direct links to the discovery of Shackleton’s “Endurance” we came away with a great understanding and respect for Shackleton and life in The Falklands. Finishing the tour with tea and homemade cake in the Shackleton Room capped off a perfect day. The gift of a copy of the book, The Ship Beneath the Ice, by Mensun Bound, was greatly appreciated. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! Derry

5.00Our guide, Zak Bound, met us at the jetty (we arrived via cruise ship) and we enjoyed a superb, fascinating 3 or so hour tour. Zak was incredibly knowledgable about the whole Shackleton story, together with great insight into Falklands life more generally. He even took us to see a penguin colony and some sea lions. We finished our tour at Zak’s house where we met his Dad, Mensun Bound, the author and explorer who found the wreck of Shackleton’s ship ‘Endurance’. Mensun shared with us all manner of historic memorabilia. An all together fantastic trip!

5.00It’s the best tour we’ve ever been on! We toured with the explorer that discovered Shackleton’s Endurance. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about his discovery. We loved it! He even gave us a copy of his book that was 2nd on the best seller list! We loved everything!!

5.00Zak and Libby are wonderful hosts. Zak waited for us more than two hours on a cold, windy day as the shuttles from our ship to shore were very slow. At our request, they modified the standard Shackleton tour tomorrow include include the major sites in the area. We were fortunate to have the added bonus of meeting Zak’s dad—the man who found Sir Edmund Shackleton’s ship, Endurance. He and Zak brought the story of Shackleton journey to life. Highly recommend this extraordinary adventure,

IF you dont know of Shackleton, you need to hire this tour even more! Filled with drama and detail, Zak's passion for his tour & story is something you cannot miss on your visit to Falkland. First To Last 😉 Zak's delivery of researched factoids is worthy for everyone to hear & see. Bring your family & friends, you wont regret it. 5.00Local knowledge is everything! We had an unforgettable tour of the wildlife around Port Stanley in the Bound family 4x4 - as a taster for their tours for 2026/2027 when we stopped for a day on the Islands from our cruise ship in January 2025. They showed us all the incredible wildlife spots in reach of Stanley - Gipsy Cove, the Lighthouse and York Bay and we spotted seals and all varieties of penguins. Their land rover is perfect for off-roading and challenging terrain not to mention the fun!
