This private tour explores the best of West Iceland. The Snæfellsnes peninsula has some of Iceland’s best sights, with the beauty and mystique inspiring world famous novels, enchanting visitors every day. This is a one day trip that you will not forget. We start the day departing from Reykjavik on the ring road heading north. As we get closer to Snæfellsnes, we will start to notice a change in the scenery, with everything becoming more dramatic. We will start to pass through enormous lava fields, mountains that seem to rise from the ocean, charming fishing villages and endless bays and beaches. Included is a delicious lunch at one of our favourite local restaurants.
This private tour was previously run as a small group tour but is now only available for private parties of up to 12. If you have a larger group, please reach out directly for advice.

What To Expect
Sellvallafoss, overlooking the Sellvallavatn lake, is one of the more hidden spots along the way, despite being so close to the mountain road. It is obscured by the contours of the land, down an unmarked route. The short walk is well worth seeing this uniquely shaped waterfall. It's nickname, the sheep's waterfall is so named due to free-roaming sheep often hiding behind the falls on a summer's day.

5.00Hidden Iceland coordinated our Iceland trip from start to finish and they were responsive, thoughtful and had great suggestions. Each of the three guides Matej, Levi and Macin were great at sharing information and history and stories while guiding us through the best sites in Iceland. Our groups were small, we traveled in comfortable vehicles, and had a wonderful time. Our driver to the airport even suggested a quick stop at a Viking Festival along the way as we had plenty of time. An extra bonus which we loved,

5.00This peninsula has breathtaking views and the trip provides a wide range of scenery including waterfalls, glacier views, black sand beaches and spectacular rock formations. This was our 2nd tour with Hidden Iceland and it was a beautiful day. Our guide Einar went above and beyond to make sure that everybody in the group of 9 had an enjoyable day. There are many sights on this trip that you will find yourself remembering long after your vacation is over. There are far fewer crowds at many of the sights on this tour than some of the other areas that you can reach within a day from Reykjavik, making it that much easier to feel like you are communing with nature. This is an excellent tour to include in your itinerary!

5.00The Peninsula trip was amazing. Our guides Fannar and Ragnar could not have been more helpful. Exquisite scenery, beautiful waterfalls, amazing geyser, as well as super recommendations for the rest of our time in Iceland. Exceptional. Highly recommended.

5.00Farnash (sp?) of Hidden Iceland was a fantastic guide! We traveled a long distance through snow, whiteouts, rain, sleet, and extremely windy conditions in a very comfortable and safe Mercedes minibus. It was a great tour. We learned so much about Iceland and the stories of the Hidden People and the myths and culture of Iceland. Our lunch was delicious. And our stops and the scenery along the way were amazing! It's funny. In other places, we may have been disappointed by the weather but somehow our driver/guide made the entire experience interesting and exciting and taught us the Icelandic expression - everything will work out in the end - which we came to embrace and appreciate.
