Trou aux Cerfs
Trou aux Cerfs is a dormant volcanic crater situated in the town of Curepipe, offering visitors a unique glimpse into Mauritius’ volcanic origins. The crater is nearly perfectly circular, measuring around 300 to 350 meters in diameter and about 80 to 100 meters deep. Instead of barren rock, its interior is filled with dense green vegetation, creating the impression of a miniature forest nestled within the crater. A paved road surrounds the rim, allowing easy access to several viewpoints where visitors can admire breathtaking panoramic views of the central plateau, distant mountain ranges, and, on clear days, even parts of the coastline. The area is known for its cool, refreshing climate, making it a pleasant escape from the coastal heat. Visitors can enjoy a walk or jog around the crater, take photographs, and appreciate the peaceful atmosphere.
Takamaka Boutique Winery
Takamaka Boutique Winery is a charming and unique attraction located in the south of Mauritius, known for producing exotic fruit wines rather than traditional grape wines. Set in a peaceful estate surrounded by lush greenery and sugarcane fields, the winery offers a relaxed and authentic Mauritian experience. Visitors can discover how local fruits such as lychee, pineapple, passion fruit, and even guava are transformed into flavorful wines through a guided tour of the small production area. One of the highlights is the tasting session, where guests can sample a variety of these tropical wines, each with its own distinct aroma and sweetness. The setting is intimate and less commercial, giving it a more personal and boutique feel compared to larger wineries. Visitors can also stroll around the garden, take photos, and enjoy the calm atmosphere.
