The University of Dhaka is the oldest university in modern Bangladesh. Established during the British Raj in 1921, it gained a reputation as the “Oxford of the East” during its early years and has been a significant contributor to the modern history of Bangladesh. After the partition of India, it became the focal point of progressive and democratic movements in Pakistan. Its students and teachers played a central role in the rise of Bengali nationalism and the independence of Bangladesh.

A fantastic tour of Dhaka, encompassing all the beautiful sites this city has to offer. The Lalbagh Fort is definitely the star attraction but also loved the boat ride down the Buriganga River. Our guide was very fun, friendly and courteous and took time to adapt to our preferences including adding on a stop at the Hasaini Dalan when we had a bit of extra time. Very much recommended!

I had the pleasure of having Mahi as my private tour guide for a Dhaka Heritage Tour. First, he speaks excellent English. Secondly, Mahi is extremely knowledgeable about Dhaka and its history, plus he offered lots of helpful general tourism advice. He is so knowledgeable about this country that the government of Bangladesh has sent him to other countries (such as Europe) to speak about Bangladesh tourism in the past. I like how he kept checking in with me about how the tour was going. I also loved the “locals” place we went for lunch. Lastly, Mahi was flexible with things. For example, I wanted to tour a ferry boat terminal (that I saw on YouTube), and although it wasn’t on the official tour, he happily deviated and we toured that area. Overall, I loved the tour and that Mahi was my tour guide.

Very full tour hitting all the highlights of Dhaka! Rajiv was a great guide-full of history about every place we went. He made sure we knew the significance of things and had fun doing it. Took pics for us, bought a few local treats for us to try and ensure we had a great time! Would have used him again the second day if we weren’t dealing with lost luggage and needing to be at the hotel to claim it!

Dhaka heritage and cultural day tour was fine, my guide Nazmul was knowledgeable about the history and learned a lot. He didn’t take me to the pulling rickshaw ride. And when taking me home they went a long way took a highway. And he took a picture of me and sent it to his boss I didn’t like it but it was okay because my face didn’t show. Overall a good trip but it was over priced

I recently had the chance to visit Dhaka, Bangladesh, and it turned out to be a truly memorable experience. The city is full of life, color and authenticity. What impressed me most was the energy of the streets, the warm hospitality of the people, and the unique cultural blend you feel from the moment you arrive. From local street food bursting with flavor to traditional markets like New Market and Sadarghat, Dhaka offers an experience that feels raw, real and unfiltered — in the best possible way. The rickshaw rides through the old city, the call to prayer echoing at sunset and the chaotic charm of the traffic all contribute to the city’s very own rhythm, something you won’t find anywhere else. Despite being a busy and densely populated capital, I always felt safe and welcomed. Locals were curious, kind, and always ready to help or share a smile. If you’re a traveler who enjoys culture, authenticity and street-level experiences, Dhaka will surprise you in the best way. A trip that opened my eyes and left me with strong impressions, great photos and unforgettable moments. Definitely worth visiting!

I was a bit apprehensive about choosing a private tour but Mahim immediately set my mind at ease. He provided clear instructions and overviews at each step, and had amazing history and cultural references along the way as well as at the site locations. So much to learn and see. I would 100% recommend and do this again. Everything was clear and accommodating. I recommend the tour, tour guide, and driver. I felt safe and taken care of the entire day! Thanks, Mahi! Oh and bring taka so you can support the local businesses 🤦🏿♀️

We had two days with Mahim (guide) and Kabil (driver) for Dhaka tour and the old capital Sonargaon tour. We learned a lot. Mahim is the true ambassador for Bangladesh and his company! Kabil is an excellent driver and took us around in the crazy traffic in Dhaka.

Mahim bhai thank you so much for your amazing story about all the places we went! Your knowledge is infinity and beyond!! I highly recommend Mahim bhai as a guide for this trip! Excellent service Small hiccup along the way that 16th Aug turns out a national holiday in Bangladesh. I wish Travel Trips inform me earlier because usually national holiday is known way (weeks or months) before, as the 2 main destinations; Lalbagh Fort and Pink Palace were closed😭 if the national holiday is observed earlier, I could have picked up other dates🙏🏽 thank you for the understanding. Other than that, a package worth to go to cover major destinations in Dhaka

A nice day out with Md.Al-Amin Farazi, from the lonesome traveller, who went out of his way to make the experience as varied as possible.
