My husband and I loved this tour so much. We were the first guests at the park, and had the top all to ourselves thanks to our super smart and helpful guides. The hike is challenging, be sure to dress in layers and bring plenty of water. The views are spectacular! A nice trip to the park and lake afterwards offers a chance to relax and sample local cuisine.

The hike is challenging but absolutely worth it - spectacular views! Dress in layers and bring plenty of water and maybe a snack. Don’t be stupid and dress like you’re going to the club.

I highly recommend doing this tour as Alonso and his brother Carlos are excellent tour guides. We started early, 6.30 am pick up for a 7.30 climb to take advantage of the cooler, early morning temperatures and less people. It was ideal. The hike was challenging for me but with Carlos’ encouragement I made it to the top. It was spectacular! On the way down we encountered large groups of tourists just starting when it was getting hotter. So avoid the crowds and go early. The tour finished with lunch overlooking the beautiful lake.

First of all, the rise of the Ilamatepec volcano is a must. The guide Carlos is an exemplary kindness and respects the physical limits of each... We made the round trip in 2h05 min and stayed about 30 min. On top of the Volcano. The Private Tour for us was a wise choice because it is the fastest and sportiest way to climb the volcano. Note: It is not very clear how the employee (photographer-driver ) takes care of Viator... It is therefore very important to stay in touch with him by email. There is no specific address except the location indicated on the Map when you book on the site. You must wait in the entrance of the Pollo Campestre parking lot even if other people tell you that it is not there! ( security guard, restaurant employee ). The employee arrives in a personal vehicle so don’t necessarily wait for a shuttle or minibus... It depends on the number of people in your private tour. As for Lake Coatepeque, it is very poorly sold compared to the package... We were dropped off in a parking lot near restaurants and mentioning (Spanish only ) that we could go to see the Lake ( A Lake similar to those of Quebec ) We asked to see the Access to the Lake and the beach and the Island. The driver informed us that the Access was closed... Overall we were very satisfied with our half day The important thing for us was to climb the Volcano We enjoyed everything from start to finish We give a rating of 9.5/10 Thanks to the employees (guide Carlos and his brother driver-photographer )

We loved this experience. Javíer is a very good guide, he accompanied us along the way, making us feel confident that we would not get lost and explaining everything we had to know about the volcano. Also, he is a super nice guy, so we had a very entertaining and fun ride!!
