National Museum Of Egyptian Civilization NEMC
Discover 7,000 years of Egyptian history at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Old Cairo. The highlight is the Royal Mummies Hall, where you’ll encounter the real mummies of legendary pharaohs like Ramses II and Hatshepsut. The museum showcases Egypt’s heritage across different eras – Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, Islamic, and modern – through beautifully curated displays and cutting-edge technology. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in the rich and diverse story of Egypt.
Perched atop Mokattam Hill, the Citadel of Saladin is one of Cairo’s most iconic landmarks. Built in the 12th century by Salah al-Din (Saladin) to defend the city against Crusaders, the fortress offers breathtaking views of Cairo and houses several historic sites within its walls. The main attraction is the stunning Mosque of Muhammad Ali, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, with its impressive domes and elegant Ottoman architecture. Inside the Citadel, you can also explore museums, ancient mosques, and royal palaces that reflect Egypt’s Islamic and military heritage. It’s a perfect stop for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and photographers alike.

Muhammad is simply the best guide in Cairo! His knowledge of the city's history is extraordinary—from the Virgin Mary's sacred journey to Egypt to the story of St. George's imprisonment and veneration. He took us to the historic church, mosque, and synagogue, bringing each site to life with fascinating details. We also explored the bustling bazaar and markets, where his insights made the experience truly immersive. Passionate, personable, and incredibly well-versed—Muhammad made our trip unforgettable. Book him—you won't regret it!

Our guide, Asmaa, enthusiastically, expertly, and humorously showed us the Citadel of Cairo, with its mosque (2), Coptic church, and synagogue. We also took a boat trip on the Nile and went shopping together in the old bazaar. She told us not only about the antiquities but also about daily life in Cairo and Giza. It was a full and varied day that went smoothly, with a delicious lunch! We highly recommend her.

We had a wonderful time in visiting the Coptic and Islamic sites in Cairo. Our tour guide Mohamed Mustafa did an excellent job showing us around. With his great attitude, knowledge in history and archeology, good command in English and communication skills, he was an excellent tour assistant for us. I strongly recommend him for anyone looking for tour help in Egypt.

This was the first tour we did with Mo (out of 3) and we were so impressed! Loved his passion and knowledge of history. He had the answers to our questions. Don’t miss this in Cairo! You will see more mummies than you’ve ever seen all together. Mo is consistently looking for the right opportunity to snap that perfect picture without too many crowds!

Good experience with Mo, who explained us the different cultures in the country, including ancient Egypt, greeks, romans, coptics and muslims. He explained us the history around each monument in downtown Cairo and answer very kindly all our questions. Shukran again!

As a solo female traveler in Egypt, I cannot recommend Muhammed highly enough! I felt truly blessed to have him as my guide and by my side for the entire week I was there, not only in and around Cairo but also in Alexandria. His knowledge of Egypt's history is astounding! No matter what I asked, he knew the answer. He is like a walking encyclopedia of Egyptian culture and history! Beyond his expertise, he was fantastic company. He is smart and warm and witty, so the many lunches and dinners we spent together were filled with stimulating conversation and abundant laughter, the perfect side dishes to traditional Egyptian meals. And I never had to worry about feeling unsafe. If approached by others trying to sell their wares or their services on the streets or in the markets, he firmly declined on my behalf but in a way that left whoever had approached me feeling respected nonetheless. I was truly impressed by the kindness he exhibited to everyone he came into contact with. I am already thinking about returning to Luxor and Aswan next year and am thrilled that he’s willing to meet me there and be my guide once again. I simply cannot imagine Egypt without Mohamed in the mix! Thank you, Muhammed, for everything! You are the best, a great ambassador for your country’s rich heritage and just a wonderful human being in general! I look forward to seeing you again soon! 😊
