What To Expect
Mount Aragats
The highest peak of the Republic of Armenia is Mount Aragats (4090 m). This four-peaked giant is the most favourite mountain of climbers. On the way to the southern peak the best stop is at Lake Kari (translated as stone lake), which is at the height of 3250 m. On the top one opens the most attractive scene: the silhouette of green valleys from one side, the eternal snow and silver lakes from other sides and the Biblical Mount Ararat far in the fog of Ararat Valley.
Armenian Alphabet Monument
Armenian Alphabet Monument is located in the village of Artashavan, at the east side bottom of Mount Aragats. It was erected in 2005 to the 1600th anniversary of creation of the Armenian alphabet by the design of the famous Armenian architect Jim Torosyan. The monument is an interesting demonstration of the stone carvings of 39 Armenian letters. The Armenian alphabet has been used to write the Armenian language since the year 405 or 406 and is still used to present Armenian language in written form. It was devised by Saint Mesrop Mashtots, an Armenian linguist and ecclesiastical leader, in order to make the Bible accessible to Armenians and spread Christianity. Originally it contained 36 letters and had been completed in the Middle Ages.

5.00This was an amazing tour. Mike and Karen were great to hangout and very very knowledgeable of Armenian culture from it's inception to present day. We learned about tons of fascinating topics from literature, to religion and within context and in a very fluid and well crafted manner. Highly recommend taking the lunch option at Chir's house. Armenians will never let you starve don't worry about it. The food was all freshly cooked with vegetables from the garden at Chir's house where they also make their own honey and dried fruit. This was our first tour in Armenia and first time and this was perfect for us. Great if you don't want to walk much but see beautiful places. Nothing too hard to reach or with challenging hikes even though most of the tour is in mountains so I'd say this is a level for seniors as well. Highly recommend Karlen and Mike, I want to book them again for the next day but they were taken. Keep up the good work Karlen and Mike :D

3.00The Alphabet park and fortress were nice. What made the day was the guide, Alisa. She was very informative and engaging on topics beyonf the ones we saw. The lake was a total waste of time. Take a sweater. It was chilly up there. I think it was very overpriced for what we got.

5.00We did a private tour with Arakel for several days and had an amazing experience. Arakel is a really nice person and always gave us background information about Armenia. He is a really safe driver, was always on time and made sure that we felt comfortable. This was the first time that we had a private driver on our holiday and we would definitely book Hyur Service again because it is a really pleasant way to discover this beautiful country.
