Khor Virap
Khor Virap – Armenian monastery, built in 642, translated from Armenian means “deep hole”. Khor Virap is one of the shrines of the Armenian Apostolic Church, a place of pilgrimage. The most interesting fact of this monastery is the fact that it was built on the site of the royal prison, where Gregory the Illuminator was previously imprisoned – the patron saint and the first official head of the Armenian Apostolic Church by the Armenian king for 13 years. From the territory of the monastery there is an unusual view of the biblical mountain Ararat.

Smooth drive, great, friendly and informative tour guide. The guide was patient, and shared a good mix of cultural and historical facts.

I had an amazing ride. Arthur was both the driver and the tour guide — honest, genuine, friendly, and incredibly informative. He’s truly an experienced historian. Jasmine, our tour guide, was exceptionally professional, knowledgeable, and well-educated — a college graduate, an impressive historian and linguist, fluent in both English and Armenian. I learned so much about the history of Khor Virap and gained a deeper understanding of the Armenian Church’s structure and its unique features. Both Arthur and Jasmine impressed me with their genuine kindness, love for Armenia, and remarkable professionalism. I wholeheartedly recommend them for your next tour to Khor Virap or any other destination — you’ll be in excellent hands.

Trip was booked within 24 hrs of the excursion. There was great communication from the local tour company used. It was a private tour for the two of us. The visit to Khor Virap will remain imprinted in my memories of Armenia forever. The quaint monastery against that absolutely stunning backdrop of Mt Ararat is fantastic. A big thank you to Tigran our driver who spoke English well and gave us a very enjoyable journey. 10 out of 10 for the whole trip😊

Our 3 hour trip to see Mt Ararat was our favorite experience of our one-week vacation of Caucasus region. Not just because the stunning views we saw during this tour, but mainly because of our amazing driver/ tour guide Samuel. Samuel taught us about the Armenian culture and was happy to answer our questions about Armenian history and current events. He showed us such kindness and hospitality, treating us like old friends rather than tourists. It was evident that he wanted our experience during the tour (and in Armenia) to be as memorable and positive as possible. We highly recommend this tour and our guide Samuel. When we return to Armenia we would definitely book another trip with (Jan Armenia Tours & Travel) and ask that Samuel joins us.

After spending 15 years in USA, I have returned to my Armenia and decided to visit all of the popular and hidden destinations of my homeland. The first company that I have dealt with in Armenia, was JAN Armenia tours and I have booked 4 excursions from them. I went to Garni and Geghard, was in Khor Virap, participated in horseback riding and have a little hike to the hidden waterfall of Haghartsin. I have travelled with my wife. Both of us were very pleased and surely will choose them again whenever in Armenia once more. My wife has always had issue with self feeling during long roads, but our driver David amazed us, honestly. We didn't even feel that some of the roads were really quite long. We didn't choose guide service, because we had read a lot before coming to Armenia about its history and the visited places, so we just needed a good companion and seeing the places that we have dreamt to see for such a long time. I am so happy to find such a good service in Armenia. 100% recommended

Took 3 tours from this company. A city tour in Yerevan (walked 3 hours admiring the beautiful city), tour to Garni temple and also a tour to Khor Virap to see the mountain Ararat. These were the places that the office manager advised to choose depending on our preferences (online). They replied my messages very quickly and helped a lot not only about their products but also about my other questions. During the tours to Garni and Khor Virap our driver was the same person and it is one of the things that I liked about my tours really much, it was really comfortable for us. Driver answered all of our questions with patience and did everything for us to feel comfortable. The car was clean and what amazed me was the wi-fi in the car, really a customer-oriented company. I have recommended their company to my friends and am writing here in order you to also know about them. The prices were quite comfortable and I think that the provided service costed more than the money we had paid. Planning to visit one more time in the end of spring.
