Mdina Old City
Mdina, Malta's capital city until the building of Valletta, is a fine example of an ancient European walled city. You will discover the Middle Ages as we guide you through this enchanting town, characterised by medieval and baroque architecture. During our guided walking tour we will be discovering the main street past the most imposing palaces, the main square, the Cathedral and much more. We will stop along Bastions Square to admire the view from its walls and then head for a strol in the medival streets of this fortified town.
Mdina Main Gate - Baroque gateway
We will start at the city Main Gate which is an impressive stone gate in baroque architecture
Stop to taste the traditional pastizzii, a local speciality, this is a flaky pastry with a filling of ricotta or mashed peas.

Angele gave us a very complete and informed overview of Mdina’s history and architecture, as well as a quick introduction to Rabat. It was very instructive and enjoyable.

We began on the 4 hour walking tour of Valetta... a group of about a dozen and thankfully Nadine provided us with earphones. There was barely a pause in her presentation and she pre-empted almost all of our questions. Next day we booked a private tour of Mdina, Rabat and the highlight, Hagar Qim. By good fortune we scored Nadine again and what a treat. Outstanding commentary with deep knowledge of Maltese history from Prehistoric times through to today. Thank you Nadine. It was our privilege to have you as our guide, and on both tours.
