Every year, humpback whales travel up to 3,000 miles from their polar feeding grounds to their warm tropical breeding grounds here in Hawai’i! While the whales are in Hawai’i we get to see a variety of breeding related behaviors!

Have you ever seen a 30 ton whale breach completely out of the water? It’s an unbelievable sight to see! We can also see behaviors like tail or pec slapping, spy hopping (yes, they can look at you!) and even heat runs (males competing to mate with a female)!

We meet at the harbor at 7:30 am and get back to the dock around 12:30 pm. Because it is a private tour, we can split up the time whale watching and snorkeling whichever way you like. Generally we spend a few hours watching whales and when the sun comes out, and it’s a little warmer, we can go snorkeling!

WOW! What a special experience and encounter. We had two whales very close spy hoping and just rolling around right at our boat. Jessie and Nick where amazing and super engaging with great conversation the entire day. Nick even dunked his phone in the water for an amazing underwater video that he shared with us. We didn't have an opportunity to snorkel due to the recent storms but our encounter with the whales totally made up for it! I would highly recommend taking this trip with Jessie and Nick, I'd definitely take it again. There were 4 of us and I think they spoiled me and I always want to take a private whale watching tour now! AMAZING experience!

I went on the tour with my siblings and 81-year-old parents. I was a little sceptical whether the experience would be good for my parents. Jessie and her team were amazing! They took extra care to make sure my mom, with mobility issues, had a memorable experience. From the moment we got to the dock to the moment we got off the dock, we were treated like family. The best experience we had on the island.

This trip with Jessie and Nick fulfilled all of our expectations! We had multiple whale sightings including breaching, spyhopping, and spouting. We saw spinner and bottle nose dolphins, turtles, an octopus, eels, and tons of fish. I can’t say enough about how knowledgeable, kind, friendly and accommodating they were. It’s totally worth it! What a great experience!

  • Whales breaching, dolphins spinning, we couldn't be happier!

As a wildlife biologist, I tend to ask a million questions, and Jess and Nick answered every single one with enthusiasm and expertise. I feel like we made friends on this trip—Jess’s passion for the wildlife and natural history of the area was infectious. The snorkeling was fantastic, but the real highlight was just being able to chat about the birds, whales, and marine life of Kauai with someone so knowledgeable. And seeing whales breach, dolphins leap, and all the incredible sights of the Na Pali Coast? Unbeatable. Jess and Nick—if you’re ever in Florida, come visit us!

This was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Seeing whales breach and watching pods of spinner dolphins play alongside the boat was awesome. Jess and Nick’s knowledge of the marine life and history of the Na Pali Coast added so much to our adventure. The scenery was breathtaking, and the hosts ensured everyone was comfortable and enjoying the trip. Highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to experience the best of Kauaʻi.
