Montenegro has a long tradition of wine growing, even from the Illyrian in antique times. Crmnica area around the Skadar lake National park considered to be the cradle of wine growing in Montenegro. As with many other things in our small land, this production was usually kept within the family. The wine was rarely for sale. The production was only for personal use or given as a present. A relatively dry climate, mountainous terrain, and the southern Mediterranean soil make perfect combination for the excellent wine.
