Join us for a day of active sightseeing in Puerto Plata’s historic center before heading to the Dominican Countryside. Brilliantly colorful Umbrella and Pink Streets provide an array of sights, sounds and photo opportunities while the historic center, Parque Independencia is reflective of the Dominican Republic's Restoration era featuring Gregorio Luperon a central figure in the Dominican Republic's fight for independence. You will visit the cathedral and drive along the Malecon with a brief photo stop of Neptune's Statue located on an islet just off the coast. You will have a brief facilities stop at a resort area before heading to a more mountainous region passing colorful, typical houses. You will stop at a local fruit stand as well as visit a colomado which is like an old-time, corner store. Then, after visiting a mountain lodge for a sample of Dominican coffee and sweeping valley views, you will return to Playa Dorada for a stroll along the beach boardwalk and a fresh rum punch.

This tour was very versitile. We toured the city and the country. The guide (Alex) was very knowledgeable and personable. If you want to explore many different places rather than explore on your own, I would recommend this tour. If you are traveling on a cruise ship, you would still have time to shop near the cruise port.
