Our Sunset beach ride is about 2 hours riding with a stop for a soft drink. During the stop, there is an opportunity to ride the horses in the Ocean as the sun sets over Mt. Isabel de Torres. We begin from Boca Nuevo and head to Bergantin Beach, riding along the beach, passing by the village of Boca Nueva then to Elvis’ for a soft drink.
At this time riders can go for a gallop along the beach and ride the horses into the ocean for a swim. . We make our way along the beach and watch the sun and moon alternate and then we have a chance for a dip in the ocean with one of the horses who is not afraid to get wet so don’t forget your bathing suit.

We start at Rancho Lorilar in Sabana Grande. We head up the mountain to Muñoz and stop at a local canteen for a drink, returning through San Peña to the ranch.
Malecon Puerto Plata
Residents of Puerto Plata proudly declare that theirs is the most beautiful beachfront boulevard in the Dominican Republic. And you will understand it when you see the multiple white sand beaches that line the main avenue of the city, each one with its name. Aside from beach days in the city center, the long, shaded boulevard sidewalk is ideal for morning or evening walks, the sunrises here are spectacular. You can also stop at one of the various bars and restaurants that line the Malecón, or take a bike ride along the bike path. Enjoy the breeze, have a sunset drink, or get some exercise by walking along the Boardwalk to Long Beach. Numerous events take place along the boulevard throughout the year, including the Puerto Plata Carnival.

We used Camel Safari Exploring to go horseback riding for a sunset tour. We were picked up and dropped off in an open air truck unfortunately 2.5 before our reservation. Our horses Tamarindo and Elvis were well behaved and fun to ride. Despite not seeing a picturesque sunset and being rained on for part of the journey we really did have so much fun! We caught an amazing rainbow 🌈 and trotted along the beach. The horses knew the route well and glided along as a pack. We stopped for a pina colada and a puppy session. We soaked in the local beach, and the views were beautiful. The trash on the beach was a big buzz kill but that's a bigger problem than the guides can deal with. We laughed and I enjoyed the king Elvis so very much.

It’s a little rugged, the access is on a large truck and for good reason because it can be a little bumpy. They warn that it’s not for pregnant, infirm, or folks with back issues. The beach you ride on is very close to Playa Dorada so if you are getting a ride from the other end of Puerto Plata like Cofresi area it takes 45 minutes or more with other guest pickups. The staff, guides, horses, and ride were great! The scenery out on the beach is spectacular, there’s a pit stop and basic beverages are provided or you can get fancier things from the small stand on the beach. The horses are very well behaved and easy to handle. The guides are always alongside and give advice and watch for dangers. You get a little wet, you can get a little muddy on the trail to the beach, wear shoes that are good for stirrups. You can also purchase photos from a guy who rides along and gets shots of everyone.

Amazing! Super super friendly group of people at the ranch. The drivers were giving us the towns history on the way. As someone who has horses it’s always nice seeing well taken care of horses. They all seemed happy and well fed. Guides let us swim in the ocean on the horses. You stop for drinks and can get a fresh pina colada in a pineapple for $10 that’s SOO worth it. Pictures weren’t insanely expensive and he sent us all of them. Would highly recommend this tour!
