Probably the best day out I’ve had in years. My second time riding with nzbiketrails, this time with a wine focus rather than scenery although we got plenty of both!!! James picked us up at a civilised 10am and took us in a beautiful clean vehicle to Arthur’s pass. We got some coaching on the bike, assurance that he would track us and off we went Views for days. We saw sheep being crutched, lambs, ducklings and the trails were pristine. The gorgeous weather and views of snow capped mountains helped. Stopped at Millbrooke for lunch where I expected to be fleeced for lunch but was surprised with a really reasonable menu. I certainly cycle better after a glass of wine too. Onwards to Arrowtown for a coffee and then the final stage to the wineries. Sunshine, live music, flights of wine and plane spotting if that’s your thing.

We were a bit hesitant about the weather but David assured us the sun would be shining the day of our ride. We woke up to unseasonal snow in Queenstown overnight and everything looked spectacular. We met David and his team member at Kinross Winery and they went over the trail, what to expect, where to stop for coffee and gave us a map. They also showed us the e-bikes and adjusted things as much as possible. We set off on our adventure and were in awe of the beautiful snow covered scenery! I didn’t plan for snow so did not have my winter gloves. We had brought our own helmets but you don’t need to - that was our preference. The ride was all things, exhilarating and fun. I slowed down on any windy bits but my partner, the MTB expert was far more relaxed. We rode over a few suspension bridges- I looked ahead and just pedalled- lol! Walked past the bungee jumping bridge and brave souls. We stopped for coffee and lunch at this cafe in a very pretty golf club. I felt under dressed but the staff were friendly and welcoming. David met us here and drove us and bikes to next section as part of trail was under water due to recent mad weather. It was overall a lovely trail ride for a novice like me. Scenery was out of this world. David was very helpful and welcoming enjoyed the experience overall. They met us at the end of the day and drove us back to Kinross Winery where we had a glass of red to wind down.

A beautiful day’s ride with NZ Bike Trails Three of the Best Queenstown Trails in a Day. Started at Kinross Winery to Shotover River then via Arrowtown to Millbrook for a lovely lunch. The new Wharehuanui Trail was next to Arthur’s Point. Great trail surfaces right thru and friendly helpful service from David and Luke. Highly recommend!
