We arrived having taken two flights from Cape Town, just in time for a pre-booked sunset cruise on the Ra-lkane. It was humid and we were hot but our troubles soon disappeared as we untied from the dock and set sail into a cool river breeze. This is an exclusive experience - we had just ten guests - and the value is a no brainer when considering the small increment on the price of the bigger boats packed with people. We had unlimited premium drinks served by our wonderful guide called 'Knowledge" and two tapas plates each. Trevor the captain gave us some fascinating insights into the wildlife we saw along the way. All in all it was the perfect end to a dusty long day of travelling from Cape Town. We hung around at the hotel from where the boat leaves for drinks afterwards, again a beautiful setting, before heading back to our own hotel. (See my other review). If you book the experience before you arrive, you can advise at that time of which is your accommodation - and you will be collected. A perfect evening on the mighty Zambeze river.

DO NOT BOOK through this operator (Southern Dynasty Safaris). I booked and paid for a Ra-Ikane dinner cruise via TripAdvisor, and it was a complete disaster. We had a confirmed pickup from our hotel at 3:30 PM, but nobody ever showed up. We tried calling the contact number for Southern Dynasty Safaris multiple times, but they did not answer their phone. To make matters worse, I contacted the actual boat operator (Ra-Ikane) directly to check on our booking. They informed me that they had no record of our reservation and that they do not even know or work with an agency called "Southern Dynasty Safaris." It seems this "operator" simply takes your money and never actually books the cruise. I have reported this to TripAdvisor and requested a full refund. Even if I get the refund our trip is ruined because I was unable to get any other cruise and me and my parents were really looking forward for the cruise.

Excellent sunrise river boat cruise. Plenty of sighting of hippos, crocodiles and even saw elephant in the distance. Great food and plenty of top ups of drinks. A lovely way to travel the river. Highly recommend.

What an amazing experience. Unfortunately for us we did not get to see a sunset over the Falls as a storm was brewing. However, this will be one of our most memorable excursions. There were only 6 people on our boat, together with the captain and a steward. Offer a iced tea and nibbles on arrival, we headed off in the direction of the Falls, spotting an elephant almost straight away. This was followed be several crocodiles. We were then offered drinks from a selection of alsoholic and non-alcohlic drinks and these were served with a very nice plate of small bites. This was, we felt, much better than have a fancy dinner on board. Drinks were replenished often! But, the most memorable event was witnessing 4 elephants crossing the Zambezi River from Zimbabwe to Zambia. It was something very special, and our captain did not rush away from the scene, allowing us plenty of time to marvel at the wonderful sight. I would definately recommend this excursion, sunset or not.

This is such a lovely experience, I highly recommend it. A beautiful, small boat makes for a serene experience. Sipping on a drink, with delicious nibbles, watching the sunset and all the wildlife. A must do! I'm so glad we were on this boat, and not the much larger ones you see on the river. I cannot fault the whole experience.

We absolutely loved this small and intimate trip. really good canopies (veg & hummus and baby quiches) I’m a veggie. Unexpected alcoholic drinks offered the crew were so knowledgeable, can’t remember the skippers name ( heaven or something ) but he really knew his stuff. Amazing close up sightings of crocs, hippos, and elephants. Amazing sunset. A very special memory

We had already gone on a fantastic dinner cruise but this was a totally different experience. Much more intimate. Great canopies (veg & hummus, delicious peanuts, and meaty bites.) Good quality alcoholic drinks. Beautiful boat, with loads of clise up sightings of crocs, hippos, birds and elephants. Amazing sunset. A memory to treasure forever!

Very peaceful boat safari on comfortable dining boat, very intimate with seating for up to ~16. Cocktails and appetizers were exceptional. Our Captain alerted us to many sightings of Hippo, Elephants and birds. We marveled at the beautiful sunset as we headed back to the dock.

Lovely cruise on the Zambezi River at sunset for 17 of us. We saw loads of hippos. Drinks and food were plenty (unfortunately, we had been hit by a bug when traveling and so many of us were not interested in eating). We did have one issue because someone in our group has a peanut allergy. The tour was booked through a travel agent and while this was communicated, there were still lots of peanuts (they had made a separate plate for the one with the allergy but given we were on the river and not near medical treatment we decided best to just not serve any peanuts at all). The staff were quite accomodating - mostly we felt bad they had prepared the items with nuts to begin with. Lots of hippo sightings. Even with some lightning in the distance and a light rain at times - we had a very enjoyable time! Thanks for a great sunset river cruise.

Having done the usual, big boat booze cruises, this was so much better. Small, casual but elegant boat with 2 crew - knowledgeable pilot and friendly hostess. Pilot was excellent at spotting game or birds, and hostess served excellent snacks and drinks. I was VERY pleased with the gluten free snacks provided for me.
