What To Expect

Reindeer is probably the most iconic animal of Lapland, it has played a significant part in local traditional lifestyle. Meeting those lovely semi-wild animals is always a unique experience for anyone visiting Rovaniemi, especially in summer & autumn! With your guide, you will leave Rovaniemi to reach a traditional reindeer farm near a lake. The herders have been living in this area for approximately four centuries. This complete visit of the authentic reindeer farm is therefore a perfect opportunity to take a dip into local culture and traditional lifestyle. You will meet the herders at work with their male animals, and you will learn about reindeer husbandry. As it is the first visit of the day, you will also get the chance to feed the reindeers with some of their favorite food. This is a great chance to approach the animals too, as reindeer are still very wild.

We did the Reindeer Farm + Huskys tour with Martin as a family, and it was really great! He took the time to answer our questions and explain everything. Thanks again to him! the places chosen by Nordic odyssey are very animal friendly, it's nice to see, at a time when many consider them only as sources of income.

We were looking for the opportunity to visit a husky and reindeer farm around Rovaniemi. The tourist village attraction on the Arctic Circle is not authentic. We came across the young provider Nordic Odyssey and drove in a small group with a guide to two wonderful farms in the middle distance from Rovaniemi. 5h absolute happiness, getting to know the working life of the people of Lapland in terms of huskies and reindeer and there was excellent hospitality and also the possibility of buying real souvenirs from the reindeer farm. The animals are in their element, are very well looked after and trained and everyone was very friendly and we talked very well in English. We would very much like to come back and experience the sled dogs in winter, the Northern Lights or the Fatbikes try out in the snow. The tour was very well selected, very well executed, the team is excellent. It was definitely one of the absolute highlights of our visit to Scandinavia. The tours cost a little, but they are absolutely worth their money.

Superb adventure with reindeer! Aude and Chris were really super friendly in detailing the whole visit in French! Reindeer feeding and explanations of reindeer life around a good wood fire. The reindeer are well cared for! I recommend ++++

The meeting with the reindeer was magical and the young farmer authentic! He explained his job with great passion. Our Guide Leo was perfect and very friendly, his additional explanations in French about reindeer and the area completed our excursion well.
