Went with a group for a private Balsam tasing experience. The interior of the bar is beautiful, Medieval, clean and surprising in many ways. We entered the alchemist's cellar and were greeted by a wonderful young man who guided us through the experience. His knowledge of the English language, humour and timing were really good. There were so many layers to this experience and my group was so happy with everything. Plus, the Black Balsam tasted good too.

Such an amazing place this cafe/chocolate shoppe, a wonderful collection of delicious chocolates, coffees and Balzam delivered in a charming, eclectic setting, it’s not to be missed. Special shout out to Richard (pronounced Rikard), perhaps the most enthusiastic, informative host / manager of a business I’ve ever had the pleasure to encounter, this man knows his stuff when it comes to all things chocolate and Balzam and presents his knowledge in such a genuine, considerate manner, that enthrals and entertains, Black Magic is a ‘must visit’ if you find yourself in the old city, highly recommended

Luckily, I had had some Balzam before as a co-worker of mine brought me some back from his work trip to Riga. Now, I got to do an exclusive Balzam tasting with my wife in the secret room. The host was brilliant as he was funny and charming. I think I was one of a few who loved this drink. However, it is more about the experience of trying something unique to only one country. I really recommend giving this a try as it is fun and well worth it.

We were keen to taste the Black Balsam and decided to visit this place to sample them all! The selection was the original Black Balsam followed by the black current version and then the cherry and finally the tropical. The black current was our favourite although the tropical came a close second.

My friend and I loved Black Magic Bar in Riga! Eleanor was our host and was very informative, she was great. I think she said it was her first time doing the experience in English and she was amazing! The experience was enjoyable and fun, and we enjoyed trying all the types of Balsam. The cocktails in the bar were excellent!
