Enjoy a guided kayaking adventure along the shores of the historic Saint John River from Dominion Park Beach in Saint John NB. Located just a short 15 minute drive from the center of the city!
History and photo opportunity abounds as you paddle in your tandem kayak along an ice aged river where 15,000 years ago receding glaciers forced the river to find a new route over the rock ridges at Reversing Falls Rapids. A light-house, pre-cambrian fossils, and an industrial story dating back to the 17th century. Explore the beautiful and bountiful river which has been the lifeblood of our region for thousands of years.
Keep your head on a swivel and an eye on the horizon for local wildlife, including bald eagles, blue heron, sturgeon, and if we're lucky, even the occasional rare sighting of harbour seal, osprey, and river otters.

A snapshot of what this 418 mi (673km) river has to offer. Our kayak tour takes place in South Bay, where we explore natural and historic sites near the terminus of the "Rhine of North America," the Saint John River. A region where salt and fresh water meet, just upstream from the impressive reversing rapids, creating a unique and vibrant ecosystem Wildlife abounds, an active bald eagle nest, jumping sturgeon, great blue heron, and if you're lucky even the occasionally a harbour seal.

Drew and Cal were amazing, definitively recommend this tour. The weather was bit cold, but it was tolerable as long as you didn't get wet. Saw some eagles and eagle nests. Saw a light house and some very old fosils.

We all had a blast as a family. The day turned out to be beautiful. Wanda, the owner, picked us up from the cruise terminal and gave us a tour of St John before we got to the river. Everything was so nice and professional. Darren and Cal were amazing with our family as our guides. My daughter said that she would give the excursion a “million stars if she could!” Can’t recommend this enough for those wanting to get outdoors and get in nature.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience! We’d highly recommend this! The beautiful area and knowledgeable guides made it perfect. They were prepared for our group with splash gear, waterproof phone cases and even jackets. They were fun to engage with and very kind! We loved our adventure!! Wanda even left us Canadian candy bars we had mentioned we liked when we returned! They went above and beyond for us! Highly recommend!!

Darren (Owner) was fantastic guide, super knowledgeable about the area, and easy to talk to. He point out items of interest along the way and made sure everyone was safe and comfortable as possible. (Made adjustments for comfort along the way) The boats, paddles, life jackets, and covers were in very good condition. The area you're taken through is beautiful. The meet spot is at a park which has changing rooms and an area roped off for swimming. I honestly have nothing bad to say about my experience Darren and I spoke for a while about the area, as well as other things in which I really appreciated his candid answers. I also REALLY APPRECIATED the fact that Darren added "Uride" (Saint John Uber) as an transportation alternative to taxis in this description. He shared that taxis in the area are price gougie and often overcharge. Our Ushare ride was $19CAD ($15ish USD), I spoke to the 2 other groups who arrived by taxis paid $50USD and another was going to get charged $50USD and told him no and gave him $30. ANYWAY we exchanged some more words an he seems like a real standup guy and I would 100% recommend him and this trip. I normally dont write reviews unless I had a really good or a really bad experience. This one was obviously excellent. Thanks again! -Sean and Nicole

It was just the Three of us and the guide (Brandon- forgive me If I messed up your first name; its been a couple of weeks). He was incredible. We had warm up suits and tennis shoes and barely got a drop of water on us. It was so personal and informative and the surroundings and scenery were incredible. A++++ if you are looking for something different to do besides the usual Bay of Fundy; etc.

This was a great experience in spite of some light rain! Dennis and Kevin were excellent guides and had so much knowledge about the geography of the area and the flora and fauna. We had an easy paddle due to light/ no wind and good directions from our guides. All 8 people in our group enjoyed the trip even though we represented a wide range of abilities and experience. We would use this operator again if we return to New Brunswick.

So, we booked our kayaking adventure during our St. John port day from a cruise. When I tried to book originally, the cruise line was booked up, so I called Wanda at River Relics and was able to book our day for 4 directly. She was SO nice and helpful. Gave us great advice for getting a taxi off the cruise ship and got there where Darren was waiting for us to begin our tour. He was so nice and knowledgeable about all questions we asked. He was super sweet and respectful to myself, who is not too agile on getting in or out of the kayak. We saw 4 bald eagles and their nest. One flew directly over the water in front of us. Kayaking by fossils and bald eagles in a light misty rain was one of our favorite memories of our cruise. Thank you, Darren, for your knowledge, expertise, helpfulness and humor. Wanda then helped us find out way back to our cruise ship and explained to us all about The Reversing Falls due to the 50' tide that comes in and out every day. Fascinating. Such a spectacular day! Thank you River Relics, Wanda and Darren!

We had a fantastic kayaking tour with our guide, Darren. He knows so much about the area. We had perfect weather, so he extended the tour so we could take advantage of it. We even spotted a few bald eagles and a couple of seals.
