SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF MY REVIEW FOR A QUICK SUMMARY. My family (2 x parents, 2 x 18 year olds and a 5 year old) were picked up from our rooms in Nadi at 6am. It was a 3 hour drive, but I loved the opportunity to see more of Fiji. We paid approx $700AUD for the experience, which I will happily pay again next time. Wear your swimmers there, or get changed into them when you arrive in the provided change rooms. They have an office you can place your things in whilst you’re on the river. You’ll only need water and sunscreen (apply a LOT, and reapply before tubing!) and the ladies will need a sarong or skirt that sits below the knee for the village visit. Shoes you are prepared to get wet, or even water shoes are important too as certain areas are quite rocky and slippery. You can take your phone if you like, but it’ll get wet for sure… and they take a heap of photos with a good quality camera which they only charge $20FJD for. I do wish I had my phone for the village tour though. The ride up the river is quite amazing. It feels untouched by humans for the most part. You’ll see many natural waterfalls amongst the forest. You’ll see a few locals on the way up just enjoying the river. They were all happy to wave and call out “BULA” to us as we passed. You’ll pass a village or two and may see the children watching and waving excitedly too. Once you arrive upstream at the village it’s made clear that you are an observer here. The villagers aren’t here to put on a show for you, they’re letting you in to observe their lives. Listen carefully as the guides will explain a lot about life in a rural Fijian village. It gave me great appreciation for all the advantages my children have. We seen locals making baskets and going about their day. We also seen some of the village children who came over to say hello to my 5 year old. It was very cute. Once you’ve seen the village, you will board the boats and head back down the river to a small walkway leading to an amazing waterfall. You can swim right up to the waterfall and the water is cool and refreshing. We were even lucky enough so see some of the guides climb up the rocks and perform a few daredevil leaps! You’ll climb back on the boats for a very short trip to lunch. The food was well prepared and the fruit and veggies were fresh and delicious. The guides even sang us a couple of traditional songs whilst we ate and then an unexpected rendition of “we wish you a merry Christmas”! Once lunch is done, you’ll go through a quick briefing before you hop in the tubes. PUT MORE SUNSCREEN ON NOW!! We did see one or two people who boated back down instead and honestly, even without the tubing the experience was worth it. However, the tubing was exhilarating. The guides boat ahead and guide you away from any obstacles. For the most part you’ll be leisurely floating along, however there are a few sections you’ll be asked to paddle into certain areas so that you avoid rocks or other potential hazards. Then you hit “the rapids”! I’m sure there are people who have done white water rafting and things that will be underwhelmed by these, but I have not! As a somewhat risk averse person this was just right for me on the excitement vs risk scale. I never felt in danger, but the ride down still got the heart pumping! After 3 sets of rapids, you’ll reboard the boat and head back to where you began. And then the long drive back to Nadi! Doesn’t matter, still worth it! QUICK SUMMARY: All in all this was an exceptional experience and one where I felt like I got to see the “real” Fiji. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t enjoy this experience, though there are elements that might be challenging for people with certain disabilities. This will definitely be a “forever” memory for my family and I and one that we definitely bonded further over. If/when we come back to Fiji, we will do this again. We just might stay closer next time!

This is a must-absolutely-do!!! Our family loved this fun experience and would TOTALLY recommend it to others. Well organised for our big group, they kept us moving along through the set-up so we met timings…..but still very Fiji styles. Our boatman was the man and could handle the longboat with such precision, taking us through the rapids was so fun! The stop offs were great ie the village visit, swimming at the beautiful waterfall, the lunch was delicious and plentiful. The staff were amazing, they kept everyone safe and informed either from in the river with supporting guests or from the longboats that followed us. It was especially amazing being sung to while floating down the river. Ravu was a great guide, fun and funny. A great way to make special memories - vinaka vaka levu.

We had a great time as a family of 4 (parents and two teen girls). It’s a reasonably long drive there and back but the views are worth it. The driver was a pro and super cautious, making it a very comfortable ride. The rapids and tubing were fun, and our guide Ben did an unbelievable job keeping us with the group and on course. The swimming hole under the waterfall was forever memories stuff (would have liked to stay a bit longer). The food was good, and all staff were very joyful and helpful in general. Stay beautiful Fiji.

Bula, the driver Picked us up in Nadi for an additional cost. It was a 3 hr drive to the tour site, but it was well worth it. We had an amazing day. Everyone was so helpful, the area was beautiful and the food delicious. The boat ride couldn’t be beat and the tubing was great , too! Would definitely do it again. Thanks, Dougie, you were fantastic helping me through the rapids. Vanaka. If you go, take a few gifts for the village children. We didn’t know about it but some did and they were so happy to get them. We had a delightful lunch and the serenade while rafting was superb.

The river tubing was recommended to us by another guest at our hotel. She could not stop raving about the tour so we decided to join in, and we loved it. The tour was really well organised, the pick up at our hotel was as planned, the staff was fantastic and very accommodating to family with young kids. The visit to the village was very interesting, we learned a bit about their culture and daily life. Unfortunately due to the weather we couldn't go for our hike but everything else went as planned. As we were tubing down the river the guides sang a traditional song to us, it was a wonderful moment. The lunch was delicious as well. We were lucky to try some of the local food. We had an amazing time! Thank you!
