  Today excursions was a fun and an enjoyable experience! From the start our tour guide JJ was helpful and knowledgeable about all things on the island. The ATVs tour was an amazing experience filled with beautiful sites. The sloth and the monkeys were super friendly and the tour guides were amazing there! The rum and chocolate factory were a great experience and beautiful sites. I love that no matter where we went; we were able to stop take photos and continue to be at our own pace. What really stood out for me is that when booking this excursion they make sure that you are only with your party and not with a group of people.   This was perfect and so was Omar, our guide! It was private so my husband and I could go at our own pace. The 4 wheeling was legit. Most of it was on really rocky washed out dirt roads up and down the mountain which made it really fun but not overly challenging if you are a beginner. We have been four wheeling a few times and found it to be adventurous.

• Best excursion in Honduras if you're coming from a cruise. Make sure to ask for Arnie as your tour guide!

  We were on the Margaritaville cruise line and decided to book an excursion last minute. From start to finish we had nothing but an awesome experience. Arnie was our tour guide and he made our trip nothing short of amazing. He made to sure make us feel welcomed and safe throughout the whole tour. He never left our side. He was extremely knowledgeable, informative, and was an all around cool dude. We had a blast and it was the highlight of our vacation. He made us want to come back to Honduras just as a vacation in itself. Ask for Arnie, you won't regret it.

  This was so much fun. ARNIE our driver was amazing. The ATV ride was fun. (Still waiting on our pictures) I would recommend gloves because our hands were sweating. The chocolate tasting and rum were nice too. Arnie did not rush us and took pictures of our group so everyone was in the pic. The beach was nice. We are lunch and swam in the ocean.   This was the BEST thing we did while on a 7 night cruise that stopped in Roatan, Cozumel, and Costa Maya! I was truly the most nervous about Roatan because of the negative press they receive due to mainland Honduras but this place was my FAVORITE of the 3 ports we visited. The people were extremely nice and friendly and helpful which I cannot say about every island I have visited while cruising. We did a ton of research before selecting Breakaway Tours. I usually prefer to not book directly with the ship because I prefer to have a more authentic experience and I feel that the ship excursions are more expensive, crowded, and very little of the money actually goes to the people on the island. When researching online a lot of the comments about booking excursions in Roatan outside of the ship were fairly negative due to crime, etc. however this is all very false. What I learned while on the tour is that the bad rep Roatan gets is because of the mainland which is crime ridden, however this is not the case on the island. Now onto the actual tour, we did an island tour with ATVs. The island tour was awesome, I learned so much from our tour guide Jay (JJ) and fell in love with Roatan. We stopped at a chocolate and rum cake factory and were able to sample and purchase some items. The best part of the experience were the ATVs! This was the best ATV experience I have done on an island. We were out for about an hour and a half and rode on a local beach where we paused for a bit to enjoy the water and the views, this was incredible! Jay was great as was this company and I do hope that you consider booking with Breakaway Tours for your next adventure because it was SO worth it!

  The tour guide Fabian was amazing. We had a great time from the 5 yr old to the grandparents. The ATV’s were one of the high lights. Highly recommend!

  I really enjoyed the ATV portion of the trip. It was a great way to have a taste of the country and see some of how the locals live. Our ATV guides were amazing as well, making sure they didn’t leave us behind. They also took some amazing pictures that will serve as great memories for us. I enjoyed the rum tasting & ended up purchasing a bottle to go home. The food we had on the beach was excellent though the actual beach was not. My tour operator was unable to take us to the original beach we were supposed to go to due to traffic so we, unfortunately, ended up at a beach that was closer to the port. We did not really enjoy the beach because it had a lot of seaweed and was rocky. But we did have some of the most amazing food. Specifically, we had fish, plantain and rice and it was excellent. I could’ve lived without all the cats by where we were eating, but I’m not sure there was much they could do about that. The bathrooms were very clean at the beach, which was good. Our tour operator was nice enough but we felt that she did the bare minimum. At times, we felt she lacked professionalism, but it may have been because she felt very comfortable with us. For example, we had what I would call a racist encounter at the entry beach. The guard initially denied us entry because he believed that we were locals, but when he found out we were from the cruise (which we had to prove) he let us in and she cursed him under her breath after we left. Well, I appreciated her sentiment because it was a very frustrating situation, as an operator of a tour. I think that she could’ve expressed herself in a different way. She also ended up making a personal stop during our commute, which was slightly annoying because we don’t believe she would’ve done that with other people. Because the ATV operators are not affiliated with the company who ran the tour, we ended up doing separate tipping, which made the excursion more expensive than we would’ve liked. operators more than my driver. Overall, we really enjoyed our ATV experience and wouldn’t mind going back to the country. tip to tip all the different people involved.

  We had a great time with Roatán Breakaway tours! Our family had a private guide, Fabian, who taught us a lot about the Island and told us funny stories! The ATV tour was fun and we loved holding the sloths and monkeys. We definitely will recommend Breakaway tours!
