This was a fun little tour. First stop was to see the monkeys. They let you in their environment where the little guys stand on your head and shoulders. Aron, our tour guide for the monkeys poured some coconut milk in our hands and the little guys licked it right from our hands. We then got up close and personal with the sloths. We had time for a few pics and some retail opportunities. Then it was off to the chocolate factory where we had a small demonstration and some tasting. But the chocolate slush it was amazing. Them off to the rum factory where we tasted some rum then out back for a beautiful view where we took pics and bought some rum drinks. We ended the day with about an hour and a half at the beach which was plenty. Our tour guide was a sweet young lady and was very accommodating and took very good care of us. I wish I could remember her name. The tour was fun and comfortable and a very nice variety.

Day 4 ✨ We had the absolute best tour guide, Andre—and this ended up being our favorite stop of the trip. Honduras is such a beautiful country 🇭🇳 From monkeys and sloths to the chocolate & rum factory, then wrapping it all up with a beach day… perfection.

Overall this was a very fun experience. It was stressful getting out of the port and meeting our guide, then waiting on the other family in our group to arrive, but I really don't see any other alternative. It was Christmas Day, that port is incredibly busy anyway, and it was just chaotic. But we all found each other and made it to our van. (Our family was 6 people, all adults, and the other family was 6 people, mix of adults and children.) We all traveled together in an air-conditioned van. Cesia was our guide and she did a great job throughout the day! Again, all of our stops were very busy and had a lot of people, but it was Christmas Day and there were just a lot of tourists and cruise ships on the island that day. The first stop, Manawakie Eco Nature Park, was so much fun. We each got to hold a macaw and take photos, take photos next to two adorable sloths (for the animals' protection, guests can't hold them anymore, but it's fine because we were still able to get very close!), and visit the monkey enclosure which was adorable chaos. Lots of good information shared throughout the visit, as well as information at the end about Roatan and its culture. Very cool stop! The chocolate and rum experience weren't quite what I was expecting from an educational aspect. They were pretty much just stores where you could sample and purchase items. We got a very brief explanation of the chocolate making process (maybe 2 minutes of info) and just got some background on rum flavors at the rum place. If you're expecting a big grand tour at those places, that's not really what happens. (Or at least it didn't on our visit.) However, that being said, the chocolate, rum and especially rum cakes were all delicious and we walked away with some good souvenirs. Our last stop was the beautiful West Bay Beach. We thought there was impending rain, so our part of the group didn't stay long and asked if we could go to a restaurant that Cesia previously mentioned that had more local food options for lunch. The other family in the group stayed behind at the beach, and Cesia and the driver took us to this awesome restaurant with beautiful views, Mutton Pepper Caribbean Grill. The food was AMAZING and there were a lot of options. (Jerk chicken, coconut shrimp, plantains, tostones, rice, YUM!) The views from our table were absolutely gorgeous. It was very nice of Cesia to accommodate what each group wanted to do. Upon our return, we were dropped off inside the port area, which was so helpful. Having never visited Roatan before, this was a very convenient way to do a lot of activities in one trip. A very fun day!

My daughter and I ended up being the only ones on the tour and we had a fabulous time. Our tour guide Chris with "Let's See Roatan" was awesome talking about local history and points of interest. He tailored the tour to exactly what we wanted and offered tons of options from which to choose. The sloth and monkey park was a real highlight with great animals abounding. We would go again if we were staying longer.

Finding the meeting spot for the tour was a slight challenge. It said to exit gate 1, but there are no signs for that. Our driver was very kind and offered information about Roatan. Another couple we met signed up for the same tour but were put in their own separate car so that was disappointing because we only saw them at one of the stops. Meeting the sloths, monkey’s and McCaws was the highlight. The chocolate and rum tasting are primarily trips so shops where they sell these. I was expecting a bit more. It was pouring so we opted out of the beach.
