My family and I visited Isla Roatan, Honduras with the MSC World America cruise. From the beginning, the booking process was very straightforward, I filled out an online form, and they emailed me back almost immediately. No deposit required. Once we got off the ship, we walked towards the exit and they were the first stand. We were greeted and confirmed as scheduled, and we were assigned Benjamin as the driver. It felt as if we were hanging out with a family member, Benjamin was very respectful, relaxed and knowledgeable. As travelers we like to experience the local areas, He drove us around the island, took us shopping for local food and beverages and then drove us to the ZipLine aventure. When we arrived at the zipline, that’s when we were asked to pay. The ZipLine team was amazing (i wish I could remember everyone’s name). We had so much fun and felt safe the whole time. In total the were 10 lines. Once we were done, we then were taken to see the animals (monkeys, parrots, sloths) the guide explained the information of all the animals, how they all of the animals are rescued. We were able to feed the monkeys and the parrots. After we were done Benjamin drove us back to the port, as we decided not to do the beach. He also made sure to stop everywhere so we can take pictures. Ps. Make sure to bring change, as the service is excellent and you will want to tip everyone :)

Taking the sloths in our arms can be pleasant but it is strongly discouraged by biologists and prohibited in several countries. We doubted some aspects about the animals (monkeys, sloths, etc...) The lazy baby was forced to stay in front of everyone hung without the possibility to go elsewhere. After the visit, we had to go to a beach club the weather was bad so it was impossible. The guide made us believe that another family wanted to go to a restaurant he knows and he said the same thing to the other family saying that we absolutely wanted to go there. After talking to each other, it was not true, we all wanted to go back to the boat. He took us to the restaurant which was very expensive for nothing (US$30-35 for fajitas). Everyone decided to leave and insisted on returning to the boat. We felt a loss of confidence in our guide at that time. No refund despite the fact that we could not go to the Beach Club, he offered us a visit to the chocolate factory but it was not anyone’s will or the starting plan. Pros: The guide was very nice despite everything. We loved the zip lines and the monitors were great. In the end, beautiful activity, good will of the team but some doubtful aspects. Even the souvenir shop didn’t want us to pay by card and the prices are expensive (cheaper at the port).

We took the Victor Bodden tour in Roatan. Our driver was Dolie, he was born and raised in Roatan. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We did the Monkey/Sloth Sanctuary, Chocolate Factory, Roatan Rum Company, Half Moon Bay, and West Beach tour. It was fantastic, he waited for us on our schedule, he never rushed us. Their tour is highly recommended if your ship pulls into Coxen Hole.

This excursion was fantastic! I had my reservations, doing a 3rd party excursion in Honduras that was 1/3 of the cost of the same thing from the ship, but we absolutely could not have had a better experience. The zip lining was so much fun! The sanctuary was beautiful, humane, and allowed so much interaction with the animals. There isn’t a single thing that could have been improved upon. I highly recommend!

Our driver, Les, was extremely accommodating to the two couples on this tour. He went out of his way to assure that both of our desired itineraries were met, even though he had to do additional driving. He stayed with us the entire time, even including our rest at the West End beach. We went to the animal sanctuary and really enjoyed interacting with the animals. The only deep disappointment was that we are no longer able to have the sloths climb on us. We can only gently touch them. Nevertheless, it was a wonderful photo opportunity between sloths, parrots and monkeys. The zip line experience was wonderful, but a little tiring, since there are a large number of stops during the zip. The beach at West End is truly beautiful and quite a pleasant contrast to one of the beaches we had visited in Costa Maya.

The organization of this tour was terrible. We were picked up at the port but had to wait another 45min before leaving for excursion for others...then we get to the ziplining/sloth/monkey area and had to wait another hour to get checked in. Then we were led upstairs to get "geared up" and had to wait another 45min for gear. Organization was absolutely terrible...way too much standing around. Bracelets should be handed out when picked up at the port so that when we arrive at the excursion, we can immediately get started. Our tour guides were great, but all the standing around and waiting did us in. I've ziplined with another tour company in Roatan before and had a MUCH better experience.
