This 90-100 min Walking Tour introduces you to 2 big governments that determined the shape and appearance of Zadar today. Roman Empire and Venetian Republic. Their architecture, legacy and heritage outlived almost everything in this town. Roman heritage in Zadar will astonish you with its endurance and Venetian with firmness.
We walk 90-100 min rain or shine no matter what. Dress accordingly, bring umbrella or a raincoat if needed. We don't enter any Museum or Church.
But don’t think for a minute that we’ll skip other very important facts and living proofs of other Kingdoms, Unions, Monarchies and their governments.
If we observe the city from the perspective of architecture, preserved monuments and the overall inherited image after the Romans, then, we must say that Venetian Republic isn’t far behind, at all. On the contrary, Venetian Republic is responsible for achieving the status of a city with UNESCO heritage from July 2017.

We had an excellent time walking the streets of Zadar with Dorja. Not only did we learn about the history of the city going back to the Romans and the Venetians, but Dorja also told us about the more recent history of the city too. We walked to all of the main monuments but Dorja also had lots of hidden gems to show us that we never would have discovered on our own. We would highly recommend this tour.

Dorja was a very informative, attentive and friendly guide - with a good sense of humour too! She was happy to run the tour for just the two of us and even went above and beyond the itinerary listed in the initial tour description. She shared lots of historical information, both ancient and more recent, as well as her own local insights on life in Zadar and Croatia and even some handy recommendations for us tourists!

Dorja was an amazing guide, detailed, patience and knowledgeable. She was focusing completely in her task without caring about anything else and was able to reply to numerous questions satisfactorily.

Very well informed guide about historic sights of Zadar like St. Donat, St. Anastasia, Roman ruins etc. as well as new sights like Morske Orgulje and youth culture in Zadar. During the explinations it is very noticeable that the guide grew up in Zadar and region.
