Rotorua’s world-class guided experience and cultural performance.
This exhilarating combo extends on from our Te Rā experience by adding a captivating cultural performance in our beautifully carved meeting house, Te Aronui a Rua. It will include a pōhiri (traditional Māori welcome), waiata (song), mōteatea (traditional chant), poi and haka.
The Te Rā guided experience features a 90-minute tour through our geothermal valley, where you’ll visit the Pōhutu Geyser, the Kiwi Conservation Centre, and the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute.
Along the way, our knowledgeable kaiārahi (guides) will share their Māori traditions, heritage, and ancestral stories, offering unique insights into our rich culture.

We’d like to take a moment to thank Te Puia and our incredible guide, Fa, for making our visit to Rotorua such a memorable experience. The park itself was beyond anything my husband and I expected. We were lucky to have Fa as our guide — don’t be fooled by his strong presence; he’s truly a gentle giant. His connection with our kids was amazing, and the tour felt less like a formal experience and more like being welcomed into someone’s own backyard. The way Fa blended knowledge, facts, and personal stories was something special. Listening to him speak about his upbringing in the village was captivating — I could have listened all day! I’m still not sure if I fully believe his story about making $100 a day in the river, but I wouldn’t doubt him either. And swimming under a geyser? Who would’ve thought! Te Puia stands as a cultural role model for others around the world. Having someone like Fa — who seamlessly weaves together lived experience and deep cultural knowledge — made it all the more extraordinary. If you’re looking to gain a deeper understanding of Māori culture, look no further than Te Puia — and be sure to ask for Fa as your guide!

This is a must do if you visit Rotorua. From understanding Māori traditions, craft education, geothermal geysers, and kiwi conservation through to a fantastic cultural experience with song, dance and a haka. Our guide Ngahuia was excellent and was passionate about telling her tribe and ancestors story. A fantastic couple of hours. Afterwards we visited the Pataki Kai cafe for a panini and drinks. Nice end to the visit.

Kia Ora guys, this is one of the best activities in Rotorua. You can view the geysers and mud pools, and along with that, learn about Maori culture. The staff is amazing. The top cherry on the cake was the performance at the end; I still get goosebumps while I am writing. All of them were so knowledgeable and talented. A must-visit place in Rotorua, I would like to say big thank you to te puia's team for such a warm welcome and hospitality.

Te Puia was a highlight of our Rotorua trip! The geysers were absolutely spectacular—especially Pōhutu, which erupted right on cue. We loved learning about Māori carving and weaving at the arts institute, and seeing a real kiwi up close was a special treat. The cultural performance was powerful and beautifully done. Everything was well-organized, and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable.

The combo with: kiwifruit, buffet, Geyser, visit to two tailoring workshops and haka is not up to my expectations The visit was too quick and we had no time to take the time. It’s a shame because both workshops are really nice and you can talk to some of the designers. Geyser is interesting but not sensational either. The Maori buffet is not Maori. Not at all qualitative. Dessert to escape. The Maori ceremony with the haka is superb! That’s what allows me to set the rating to 3 and not 1. If you have the option to go to the haka only and do a self-guided tour, just do that
