What To Expect
Talag
At 9:00 am, meet at the Akangau tour office in Tena. From there we will take a private car to the Upper Amazon region. The day’s journey begins with a 3-hour walk to an incredible viewpoint that overlooks the impressive panoramic view of the Napo River, which is a direct tributary to the Amazon River. Along the way, the guide will explain how our ancestors used the resources of the jungle to survive. You will learn about the flora and fauna of the jungle including many medicinal plants. We will stop to observe the view of the Amazon at the viewpoint, and we will have a snack then make our way to the mystical “Route of the Dreams”. This is a thousand-year-old pathway that was used by ancient people to travel between communities and to the Napo River. You will visit the Kali Kali caves where parrots meet once a year to mate. This ancient path travels across clean waters and lush canyons. We will arrive at the Uchuculin community, around 3 pm where we will enjoy a delicious lunch.

5.00What a fantastic day spent in the Amazon with Misael. We both learnt so much about the fauna and flora and the indigenous Kichwa people. Misael was very knowledgeable and passionate about Amazon and its people and culture. His English was very good. The trek was exciting and took us through dense jungle and a beautiful river. Finished the day with a delicious meal together. We would highly recommend this tour with Misael. You must have reasonable fitness. Thank you Misael.

It was a great experience from the start to finish - personalized to our expectations and abilities, even provided us with a translator which was very helpful. Misael was very welcoming and explained everything before and after. It was raining the entire time but our tour guide was very patient and helped in crossing the river. It was not easy one for us but we enjoyed thoroughly. It was a once in a lifetime experience. We would recommend this tour to anybody who is physically fit. Thanks a lot to the entire Akangau Team. Bravo!

5.00It was a great experience. Our guide got us safely through the jungle. He explained many things to us and was able to answer all our questions. The tour was not just a normal hike. On the way we also had to hike through a river and swim in it to make and finish the hike. For us it was a huge adventure. However, you have to know that you should be able to swim. Overall an unforgettable experience!

We then enjoyed another peaceful canoe trip on a lake before visiting an indigenous village, where we learned about traditions and daily life. The tour was well organized, our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and we came away with unforgettable memories. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tena!

5.00I highly recommend this agency if you're looking for an authentic experience in the Amazon jungle in Tena. I had the chance to experience a 3-day trip with the Dream Path. I learned a lot about the Kichwa culture, medicinal plants, and the animals of the forest during my stay. My accommodation was very comfortable. Additionally, my questions were quickly answered via WhatsApp. Overall, I have only positive things to say about this experience.

5.00I had an amazing time exploring the Route of the Dreams and the rivers near Tena! Misael is a fountain of information about history of the Amazonian jungle of Ecuador, where he was born and raised. His passion made this experience pure, authentic and unique. He was always so nice, respectful, accommodating and ensured I was always safe during any activity. Belen is pure gold! She had been super attentive since the first interaction, very sweet and personable, making sure my trip went smoothly from start to finish. I appreciate Akangau Jungle Expeditions so much for everything and more! The best cultural experience of my life and will be coming back to do it again! Recommend them to everyone but for me as a female solo traveler they were perfect and I was so safe which is the most important thing for me!
