• What a fantastic way to spread the morning

  We had arranged our trip in advance via a third party, with local pick up in Rovaniemi. During our stay the temperature dropped to well under 30 below zero, so, quite understandably, our tour was delayed and rescheduled for the safety of the participants. Pick up on the rescheduled date was on time and in a very nice minibus. Our journey took about 40 minutes from Rovaniemi to Bearhill, and on arrival we were welcomed at the bus by our excellent guide. She spent time making us all feel welcomed before checking that we had enough layers on to stay as warm as possible on the trip. Suitably decked out, we headed outside to meet our musher and dog pack. The trip took us through the snowy and icy forest and then out onto the wide expanses of a frozen lake. We reached quite a speed at points along the way, but we were in good hands. After about 20 minutes we returned to base, and had time with the musher to meet the pack and spend some time with each of the dogs. We then returned to the reception building for a chance to warm up over some berry tea and ginger biscuits and we had a question and answer session with our guide, who was very knowledgeable. A tour round the kennels, including the kitchen area where the dogs’ food is prepared rounded off the trip. We had another opportunity for a quick warming cup of berry tea, before heading back to Rovaniemi. A great morning, spent in the company of some lovely dogs, and local people who clearly care deeply about their animals. All the dogs that we saw, both those that are owned by Bearhill and those owned by the mushers, were well looked after, seemed very happy to be doing what they do, and were a joy to be around. We are in our 60s and were the oldest on the trip by quite some margin, but we were very well looked after by the whole team, despite us not being the most flexible when trying to get onto the dog sled!! Highly recommended from start to finish. Thank you for giving us the chance to experience it!

  A magical experience.   Huge experience with a very nice hike, the animals are well treated, the breeding is very clean and the teams very friendly. The duration of the sleigh ride is quite long. And the explanations are clear. A good fire awaits us back with a good gogli. Recommend

  The guide made sure we were all jutted up well. The instructions were clear & concise. The dogs looked happy & healthy. The run was just long enough. Going across the frozen lake was incredible. Patting & feeding the dogs at the end was fabulous.

  This place is awesome - can’t say enough good things, we were on a tour and we got treated like royalty. The guides we had were great and the lady taken it was excellent. We toured the kennels, fed the dogs and had amazing salmon soup! Highly recommend

  My husband and I wanted to do a self drive tour and this one seemed to be perfect. Tori was our amazing guide and she was so knowledgeable, patient and fun! It was an awesome experience despite the cloudy weather. The care of the dogs was my biggest concern and it’s clear that this group love these pups and the pups love what they do. 10/10 recommend

  We have just done our trip to Bearhill self drive husky as a family of 5. Slight issue with our pick up time I think I missed the email so we thought pick up was 9:45 rather than 8:30. The organisers were amazing, polite and helpful, sent taxi details and tracked us so we could meet the main bus. SO relieved we made it as it was the best experience. Eldest daughter went with the guide and even got to have a go at driving- epic! Tori was our guide and was so knowledgable, funny and generally brilliant and made us feel so welcome and special! The dogs are beautifully looked after and well trained and it was just the most magical experience with the snow all around and still coming down! Highly recommend!

  We booked this tour, hoping for enough snow and cold weather, so that we could ride a sled, rather than a cart. And we were lucky! Pickup from Rovaniemi was very comfortable and friendly. We were provided with wet suits that kept us warm and dry throughout the experience. Important: no crazy winter outfit needed. You'll get proper equipment at the venue. All sizes available. After a quick introduction to the sleds and how to drive them, we hopped on our sled and off we went! – the dogs just couldn't wait any longer to drag us through the beautiful snowly woodland and over a frozen lake! 10/10 experience! After a while, me and my partner changed roles. While I sat down under a cozy blanked, it was her turn to stir the sled. Then we got to know the dogs better and were told on how they are trained, what type of huskies they are and even saw some puppies! All in all it was a blast! This adventure will live in our memories forever! Special thanks to our Musher Bastian! It was so much fun! Thanks!
