Hunting the Northern Lights in Lapland is an unforgettable experience — and with Arctic GM, it’s approached as a structured Aurora hunt guided by real-time conditions.
Operated by The Original Aurora Hunters®, Arctic GM is a family-run company with roots in Lapland dating back to the 1600s, bringing generations of local knowledge into every tour.
The evening begins at a central meeting point in Rovaniemi. Travel by comfortable coach as guides continuously adjust the route based on weather and Aurora forecasts, with the possibility of driving up to 2 hours from the city, including toward the Swedish border when conditions require.
Stops are made in carefully selected locations away from light pollution. When the sky clears, step into the Arctic landscape while guides assist with photos under the Northern Lights.
Thermal overalls, hot drinks, and light snacks are included. The experience lasts approximately 4–6 hours.

What To Expect
Rovaniemi
Begin your evening at a central meeting point in Rovaniemi, where you will meet your guide before departing by comfortable coach. The tour is designed as a Northern Lights hunt, with the route adjusted continuously based on real-time weather and Aurora forecasts. Travel may take you up to 2 hours from the city, including toward the Swedish border when conditions require. Along the way, your guide will share insights into the Northern Lights, Arctic nature, and local culture while searching for the clearest skies. Stops are made in carefully selected locations away from light pollution. When conditions are favorable, you can step into the Arctic landscape to observe the Northern Lights and take photos, with guidance from your tour leader. Thermal overalls are provided for comfort in cold conditions. During the evening, you will also enjoy hot drinks and light snacks. After the experience, return by coach to Rovaniemi. Total duration is approximately 4–6 hours.

5.00It was truly an outstanding experience from start to finish. Our guide, Aurore, was incredibly caring. She checked in frequently, helped everyone stay comfortable, and made sure we were in the best position to view the lights. Her knowledge of aurora science was truly profound! I left the trip not only amazed by the aurora, but also much more informed. Great appreciation to Aurore!

5.00We had the best time ever! I went to Rovaniemi with my sister and my min and at first we were a little bit skeptics about whether you would have seen the aurora but then we were extremely lucky! Our guide Alexis was very nice and friendly, he explained everything very clearly and we had a lot of fun together!

1.00Review for Northern Lights Rovaniemi: Guaranteed Viewing & Unlimited Mileage (December 2025) This experience did not meet my expectations. 1. Tour Guide(Lina)Experience – Our guide, Lina, primarily acted as a driver. There was little to no explanation about the Northern Lights, including the science behind them or the viewing conditions. I had expected a more informative, guided experience. 2. Advertising vs. Experience – The tour is described as offering “Unlimited Mileage,” but we were taken to a single location and remained there for the duration of the tour. There did not appear to be an effort to seek out clearer skies or improved visibility. At one point, we were invited to view the Northern Lights through the guide’s camera, which was not the experience I anticipated. 3. Customer Service – I reached out to the company following the tour and have not received a response. A follow-up would have been appreciated. 4. Value for Money – While weather conditions play a major role in seeing the Northern Lights, I expected a higher level of service given the price. Other tours in the area appear to actively relocate in search of better viewing conditions, which was not the case here. Overall, this experience was disappointing and did not align with the expectations set by the tour description.

5.00Our guide Aneeq did everything in his power to get us to see the lights even though it was end of the season, he was amazing and explained what they had seen in their forecast earlier in the day, how the lights are formed, the best times to see them in the season and took amazing pictures of us with the lights

5.00It’s guaranteed that you can see aurora. They even drive us from Rovaniemi to Sweden to chase the Aurora. It was amazing. The team also help us take photos using their professional camera. They did not limit how much photo we could take.

5.00This was the most magical northern lights experience. Nothing was left to chance. The guide was attentive and knowledgeable, explaining how locations are chosen and how the lights worked. The photos I got back were unreal. I highly recommend this experience.
