To be a witness and get up close to the Black howler monkeys in their natural habitat is special. A tour of the Community Baboon Sanctuary in Belize is the ideal activity for the entire family. Spot the black howler monkeys swinging and calling through the treetops. This awesome initiative to protect and conserve the tropical rainforest's loudest creature, found in the Belize River valley, has become a huge success. Our guests get to walk through trails under the canopy of the rainforest and seek the presence of the monkeys. They get to learn about many medicinal plants and trees used as herbal remedies in rural communities. The capable and knowledgeable site guide at the Sanctuary provides detailed information on the history of the sanctuary at the small museum just before you venture out to view the howler monkeys. Our guests get to meet local guides and community members dedicated to conservation as they learn about wildlife preservation and the local culture.

Belize City
This tour begins in Belize City. After pick-up, our guests will be given a brief tour of the north side of Belize City as they make their way over to the howler monkey sanctuary. They will be able to see a few landmarks and educational institutions. This city tour will then be continued on the south side upon returning from the sanctuary. Besides the landmarks and historical buildings, the guest will be driven through downtown Belize City and get to see the beautiful faces of the Belizean people as they go about their daily lives. This is a great opportunity to experience the country's rich cultural and natural history.
Belize District
As the tour makes its way to the Sanctuary it will be passing by the historical Belize River which was once used as the mode of transportation by the Mayas and later by the British settlers to move their mahogany logs out of the rainforest. The tour continues passing through other villages that were first created as mahogany camps, as they make their way to the Howler Monkey Sanctuary. These villages are located along the Belize River and offer a stunning view of the Belize district.

We went with a plus adventures to the howler monkeys. Our driver was amazing and very knowledgeable as to the history of Belize and kept us thoroughly entertained. The owner Anthony was prompt and willing to get us ready for our tour without issue. When we arrived at the sanctuary, we were greeted by ourguide blue. He gave us instructions about the monkeys and then we were able to feed and hold them and listen to them howl. It was an absolutely amazing experience and we would encourage anyone who is interested or would love to see the monkeys in their habitat to take this tour

Woe unto you who would book this rip off for $50 per person. The tour of thecity amounted to pointing out the call centers, the Walmart, several High Schools, the Hospital, etc.Boring and of no value.Next you driven for an hour to The Howler Monkey reserve. After walking over a mile on uneven ground you get to see three monkeys in the trees and an old mahogany tree. That's it and back in the van for another hour and then a supposed tour of a rum factory. This actually turns out to be a store where they try to sell you a bottle of rum.The staff there was quite rude and indignant.10 minutes there and back in the van, through the city again until reaching the cruise ship dock.Lastly the A/C on the van left something to be desired.

This is not worth the money. You spend a couple of minutes in the woods.... Not only do you pay for the tour, you pay more money when you get there. Save your money folks..

Really unprofessional. Despite the confirmation until the day before the tour, they canceled it 2 hours before the start, telling me that I was the only person booked and that if I wanted to do the tour anyway I would have to pay double to reach the minimum number of people or move the tour, but in my case it wasn't possible to do either one thing or the other. It was a real shame because I had moved to Belize city the day before to take part in the tour. I still received the refund

So. I had signed up for howler monkey tour. But it was canceled. They offered a Mayan ruins tour instead. Which was great. Mark is a most excellent guide

Albert from A plus took us here as an alternative to cave tubing since the water was too high and caves closed. We were pleasantly surprised with this tour, Robert was our guide to see the monkeys. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. I had no idea we would actually get to see and interact with the monkeys so close up. Very good experience and Albert was the best tour guide ever. Would definitely recommend this trip and this company.

Albert from A Plus had exemplary communication that stood out from other tour operators. He made the tour that we wanted happen and used his connections to give us a special experience seeing the howler monkeys and so many tropical birds on our private tours at both locations. I had a special request to try the local Garifuna dish Serre and though it was not actually a straightforward thing to make happen, he did and it was the best meal of our trip. Highly recommend Albert and both the Baboon Sanctuary and Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary. Albert’s knowledge and passion for his country also really made the day memorable and gave us a greater sense of connection to Belize. Thank you so much. Definitely arrange tours with A Plus/Albert.
