Rwenzori Mountains Trekking with Margherita Peak Summit (5,109m asl) tour takes you through the Rwenzori mountains national park surrounding the Rwenzori mountain ranges.
Rwenzori Mountains National Park protects the highest parts of the 120km-long and 65km-wide Rwenzori mountain range. The national park hosts 70 mammals and 217 bird species including 19 Albertine Rift endemics, as well as some of the world’s rarest vegetation.
The Rwenzoris are a world-class hiking and mountaineering destination.
The vegetation in the Ruwenzori is unique to equatorial alpine Africa. Their multitude of fast flowing rivers, magnificent waterfalls and stratified vegetation make the property exceptionally scenic and beautiful. The mountains are well-known for their unique alpine flora which includes many species endemic to the Albertine Rift in the higher altitude zones including giant heathers, groundsels and lobelias. This trek is always worth the experience.

Experience of the actual trekking was excellent with good guides, chef, protection and incredibly diverse landscape. Walking was not overly strenuous not covering more than 8k a day with some steep elevation. We tried to message the organisers to arrange a more customised experience and would also have been happy to carry our own equipment to save porters but there was not much adjustment on this. They were also very difficult with taking the dollars cash we paid them in due to any minor markings on damage to the dollars.

We used Bujuku Eco Tours for a multifaceted Uganda adventure of 17 days. Each event and activity exceeded expectations! Their lodging choices were excellent, and their guides were exceptional. They are also socially conscious and paid fair wages through local mountain community organizations for local cooks and porters, and ensure that regulatory standards of maximum carrying weights were not exceeded. Additionally, they provided cultural and humanitarian components into the program that greatly expanded our experience. We combined 10-day Rwenzori Mtn trekking itinerary with a volcano climb, gorilla tracking, golden monkey tracking, chimpanzee tracking, Batwa (Pygmy) cultural encounter, Queen Elizabeth National Park game drives and boat safari. Truly a magical experience, and every single component of the trip was top-notch. Highest possible recommendation for Bujuku Eco Tours

Bujuku Eco Tours & Travel was a great choice. I spent 15 days with Bujuku Eco Tours & Travel. All in all more than satisfied. Reliable and fast communication in advance. Flexibility in the tour organisation, due to health reasons. Spent the first six days in Queen Elisabeth NP and Bwindi NP with Exavier. Great choice of accommodation in the mid-range area. Very entertaining drives, lots of information about Uganda, culture and traditions. Thank you Exavier. I enjoyed my time with you! The subsequent 8-day trekking tour in the Rmenzori Mountains with Alfred & Harrisson as guides was the absolute highlight for me. I’ve been together with an american Woman. Top organisation, reliable leadership with ascent of the Cheptegei. What a magnificent landscape. I always felt safe in the company of the two of them in the sometimes very demanding terrain. Top catering on the way, amazing what Cedrak kept conjuring up for us. Thanks to the porters, who were always in a good mood and did an outstanding job. I can only warmly recommend this trekking tour to anyone who wants to experience something extraordinary in terms of scenery. It is a worthwhile alternative to the overcrowded Kilimanjaro trek. There is no comparison in terms of vegetation and mountain scenery. You can get very nice impressions at mondberge.de, among others. Bujuku Eco Tours & Travel was a great choice. Thank you for the unforgettable and impressive days with you in Uganda. I wish you all the best for the future! Thank you Geoffrey, Exavier, Harrisson and Alfred!

The trail has been open for exclusively wilderness camping. The hiking goes through the mountain forest, giving you the opportunity to see wildlife like the black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, chameleon, and the Rwenzori Turaco.

Good quality of the service for reasonable price including security. Excelent team and professional guides. Friendly and willing people. Well managed. Clear communication and correct deal. Fast, faultless and flexible organisation and arrangement. Me and my friend, we did a trek in January 2024 in Rwenzori mountains, started from Kasanzi region through camps of Kasanzi, Bekambo, Lami, John Maata hut, Elena hut to Margherita peak, then back to John Maata hut through Irene lake hut and out of the park along the Central cirquit, Bujuku and Mubuku river with lunch in Nyabitaba hut. 7 days, 6 nights in the mountains. We had 2 guides, cooks, porters and 2 rangers. Vladi, Czechia

Amazing experience, highly recommended. Bujuku Ecotours was a great choice, excellent service from the first contact. We hiked Ruwenzori mountains for 7 days, without the peak. The landscapes were really wild and unique, and we saw different types of monkeys, chameleons, deer, birds and lots of beautiful butterflies. Each day was different, and we would have liked to stay even longer. Alfred and Harrison, our tour guides, were excellent, super nice and professional, adjusting to our pace and knowing when to help at more technical spots of the hike. The only challenge for us was the altitude, but even that was fine, though next time we would spend a few days in Uganda to acclimatise rather than going straight from the plane to the mountains. We also got pampered by the team, first and foremost our excellent cook Sedrack who prepared big and tasty meals. We even got fresh fruit at above 3000 m altitude, plus hot water to “shower” every day. We were not used to such luxury during a hike and were very surprised when we were told the two of us would have a dozen porters. But it seems to be the norm, also creating badly needed jobs.

My friend and I just finished an 8-day trek in the Rwenzori mountains with Bujuku Eco Tours and had an amazing time. From the beginning, they were well organized and flexible to tailor personalized trip. The driver Johnson was very kind and expounded on Uganda's history and nature. The company supplied us with high-quality climbing and camping gear that we were unable to bring but was essential for a safe journey. We camped in tents along the Bukurungu trail as we enjoyed the solitude of mystical mountain valleys away from the groups on the central circuit. The hikes were challenging but the team chef supplied us with warm drinks and filling meals to keep us going. Summiting Mt. Speke and Mt. Stanley, we learned new mountaineering techniques while taking in the breathtaking mountain landscapes. I highly recommend Bujuku Eco Tours for any trek in the Rwenzori Mountains to ensure a safe, comfortable, and exciting trek.

What an experience in the Rwenzori Mountains. Can never forget. Thanks to Joeffery and Johnson's great services that we managed to do it with ease. We summited the Mt Stanley - Margarita Peak and came back safely. 10/10 for Bujuku

Wow! What a fantastic experience we had. We have chosen 1 day. Super cool experience to a beautiful place! It was a tough walk. Advice is to really leave as early as possible, so you can do it at your leisure. Eventually we arrived back at our car with some lights in the dark.

We had a great experience in Uganda with Johnson and Geofrey from Bujuku Eco Tours. We did a 4 day Rwenzori trek and Chimpanzee trekking at an affordable rate. Everything was perfectly organized and the accommodations were very nice. Trekking gear for the Rwenzori mountains was arranged by the organization and of good quality. Transport from and to Kigali was very comfortable and there were possibilities to see a lot on the way. I would 100% recommend Bujuku Eco Tours for people wanting to visit Uganda.
