We're both super, super, super grateful to Juan Diego, Ana, and Odilia. These 3 beautiful people will make you feel at home, let you do as much (or as little) as you want, and walk you through proper selection of ingredients, the history behind each dish, and how each can vary across different regions. They're very kind, very welcoming, very understanding, passionate, and incredibly professional. 10/10 glad we booked this. It is an experience I will cherish for life.

Fun day, learned about ingredients with delicious food and amazing people. Apparently I have to write a minimum of a hundred letters to have this post posted. 0 points to Viator and 100 points to the cooking class!

Taking a cooking class in Medellín with Chef Juan and his wife was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel completely at home, which turned what initially felt unfamiliar into a warm and welcoming experience. I attended with my mom, sister, and six-month-old nephew, and they went above and beyond to accommodate us—even providing a blanket and toys to keep my nephew entertained. At first, we were nervous about taking a class in someone else’s home, but their kindness and hospitality immediately put us at ease. They welcomed us like part of their family, making the experience feel not just like a cooking class, but a shared meal with friends. The class was thoughtfully structured for all skill levels. My sister and I, as beginners, received guidance and encouragement, while my mom, a seasoned cook, had the freedom to cook comfortably while learning new Colombian techniques. Throughout, Chef Juan and his wife shared fascinating insights into the ingredients—their origins, nutritional value, and cultural significance. We prepared a delicious four-course meal from a shrimp cocktail appetizer and traditional ajiaco soup to homemade arepas and bread pudding for dessert. Best of all, we got to eat as we cooked, making the experience even more immersive. They also captured photos and videos for us, so we could stay present and enjoy every moment. If you’re looking for an authentic and heartwarming culinary experience in Medellín, I highly recommend this class. We left with full stomachs, new skills, and wonderful memories!

What an excellent experience. It was everything I wanted and more. I mentioned to Ana that I wanted to take the class because it’s hard for me to eat out with all my allergies. She told Juan, the chef, and since I was the only student that day, he adapted everything. We danced, we sang, we cooked…and then we ate. So delicious. I want to put Hogau on everything now. I can’t wait to try to make it on my own. Thank you both for a memorable time!!!

I loved the experience, although seafood is not my favorite, because I dared to try it I was pleasantly surprised. The coolest thing is that Juan Diego and his family made us feel like we were in the Caribbean!! With his warmth, his willingness to explain to us the different components and preparations that the menu included and the Colombian flavor reflected in each of his dishes, I can only say that I already want to repeat! Don't miss the opportunity to experience Colombia in the hands of this wonderful chef.

It was a very pleasant experience to have the opportunity to explore all that culture and flavor behind it through knowledge of the dish. Thank you for the enthusiasm and love you feel in the preparation.
