Kanem Region

We leave N’djamena in the direction of Massakory and take the only stretch of paved road along an area that is already typically Sahelian.

Mao, the capital of Kanem and the ancient seat of a sultanate, characterized by the typical white limestone brick buildings in the classic Sudanese style.

Kanem Region

We leave the city, to begin the great crossing of the desert which, along the cliff of Angamma, will take us to the foot of Tibesti

in the evening we will camp near Zouar in the past seat of the Derdè, the highest and only recognized political and religious authority of the Toubou ethnic group.

the track begins to climb on a track drawn on huge expanses of pumice stone formed when the region's volcanoes were in full activity

Optional excursion to the bottom of the volcanic caldera, in about 6 km we overcome a difference in height of 700 meters

we begin the slow descent towards Bardai crossing the Oudinger gorges, the sometimes difficult track takes us to the rock station called "Homme de Gonoa" Finally, the track crossing an oasis of greenery takes us to Bardai, the region's capital, a field near the oasis

Tibesti Region

We leave Bardai following the green path along the Enneri Zoumri, where acacias and tamarisks abound, then the track alternates with very rough and stony sections

along the gorges of Yebbiguè to the "cachee" oasis of Yebby Bou with its characteristic Tubu constructions.

Tibesti Region

along the way we will witness an exceptional variety of landscapes, we pass from arid plateaus at times enlivened by some steppes and complicated paths traced in a sea of stony ground characterized by steep slopes

We arrive in Gouro, a small oasis inhabited by the Toubou ethnic group surrounded by beautiful palm groves and the historic carrefour of the caravans that connected Abechè capital of Ouaddai to Libya.

We leave the oasis of Gouro heading south to reach the beautiful lakes region of Ounianga Unesco World Heritage Site

Lakes of Ounianga

Visit of the lakes of the Ounianga Kebir, Ounianga Sahir and Buku region The landscape is incredible: lakes surrounded by palm groves that emerge unsuspecting from the sand, multicolored sandstone rock formations, yellow and orange dunes that descend to the water

Ennedi Region

We leave the Ounianga lakes region with a south-southwest route towards the oasis of Wadi Doum, following the Bir Kora trail

we continue towards the Way oasis, the Bichagara rock painting site and the Wadi Doum oasis, before reaching the village of Kalait, currently the most important market in Ennedi

We leave the settlement of Kalait again after the necessary supplies and an integration of fresh food, passing through the abandoned village of Oum Chalouba likely sightings of herds of gazelles crossing the protected area of Wadi Achim

Bahr el Gazel Region

following the Wadi Achim we reach the bed of the Bahr El Ghazal, the ancient emissary of Lake Chad. This, along with numerous other temporary waterways, testify to the ancient appearance of the area

Last route on the track along the Bahr el Gazel in Massakory we take the asphalted road again to finally get to N'djamena. Accommodation at the hotel and free dinner
