Walk Salem's most haunted streets and uncover the devastating true story of the 1692 witch trials — told the way only a lifelong local of old Salem can tell it. This tour is a favorite with families and curious kids of all ages. Named one of TripAdvisor's Top 10 Salem Walking Tours 2026, step into 400 years of mesmerizing history. Every tour ends with time for questions and recommendations for where to eat, shop and explore by request. Hate the crowds? Pick our early morning 8:30am slot. We look forward to meeting you. The tour's starting point is: The East India Fountain at 158 Essex St Salem, MA 01970. Length is 60-90 minutes depending on pacing times and needs. To: April of "Witch City walkabout" Mia and I enjoyed the tour of the salem witch sites. We had read books on the witch trials and local history prior to taking your tour, therefore we came prepared to participate and ask questions. You were a wealth of knowledge. As a local who has lived in Salem for generations you were able to convey your tremendous knowledge in an engaging and fun presentation. I particularly was impressed that you studied the old English trial records after which you were able to make several corrections to errors published in various books on the subject of the Salem witch trials. I would suggest you offer a second level more indepth tour for people like us who have toured with you once before. When we return Witch City Walkabout will be our choice for a tour guide company. Best wishes. Jim and Mia Vermont

If you’re on the fence about booking a tour in Salem … do this one! Witch City Walkabout is a total hidden gem. What stood out most to me was how real and local the experience felt. It wasn’t just repeating facts. We get deeper context, stories you won’t hear everywhere else, and a guide who clearly knows and loves the city. The balance of history, humor, and eerie moments was perfect. It kept us engaged the entire time, which is rare for walking tours. You can tell this isn’t just another cookie-cutter experience. We’d 100% do it again and will be recommending it to anyone we know heading to Salem!

We loved that this tour is not one of those big tour companies with dozens of guides, it is authentic and given with care. It isn't quite Salem's busy season yet and we preferred it that way, there were no crowds so we were able to easily stroll and take it in the tour.

April was an incredible tour guide who had an abundance of knowledge and gave incredible storytelling. The children loved her facts and enthusiasm and despite it being cold and rainy, never complain but we're incredibly engaged.
