'Sound of Music fan or not: Take advantage of your stay in Vienna and visit Salzburg. With a friendly driver you depart from your hotel in Vienna in a private limousine or minivan. The scenery on the way to Salzburg is breathtaking: You pass by the Vienna Woods, see the peaks of the Alps from afar, and finally reach the Austrian lake district. Take pictures of the region’s gorgeous mountain lakes and villages and visit the locations from „The Sound of Music“! In Salzburg you will be joined by a local expert guide who will take you on an extensive walking tour: hear intriguing stories about the history and the city’s famous inhabitants while you see the most important sights. Among other things you see Mozart's birthplace, the colorful gardens of the Mirabell Palace (the 'DoReMi' song was filmed here), the cemetery of the abbey of St. Peter (the Trapp-family hid there), the festival area, the Archbishop’s Palace and the cathedral. After the walking tour spend a couple of hours in Salzburg for lunch, do some shopping or explore the city further on your own. Visit the Mozart museum or take a ride in the funicular up to the impressive fortress of Hohensalzburg. In the late afternoon your driver will take you to Vienna and back to your hotel. The entire trip was great. Our guide, Josef, was wonderful. The driver, I believe his name was Marten, was also fantastic. We had a large group of family (14) and they took great care of all of us. The stops were also lovely along the way as our tour was from Vienna to Salzburg. This tour has sound of music stops and cultural stops. This tour does not include the gazebo. So if you want a full sound of music tour then you may wish to book a different tour. The only issue we had was the speaker in the tour van was not great. It was completely muffled for those in the back.

Ulrich, our guide was wonderful - very knowledgeable and helpful. He made this tour special. I reccomend the tour as it gives you flexibility to spend as much or as little time you want in each location.

Julio was just great, i appreciated his kindness, explanations and amability. The tour in salzburg with naomi was so quick, i think could be more than this. Generally, the tour agency could inform customers of the closing stores bcoz of the christmas night. All stores were closed on 15h00. Or may be delete completely this tour, it would be fair.

Absolutely loved this tour. Our tour guide, Flemming, was an encyclopedia of history and Austria. He narrated our tour to Salzburg pointing out interesting places along the way. We stopped at several places along the way to allow us to see some sites. Salzburg was amazing and so was our local guide. Well worth spending a little extra to go with Vienna a la Carte.

Spent an entire day from Vienna to Salzburg with small group in a comfortable minivan. Both Markus and Noami were friendly, knowledgeable and fun! The tour was perfectly scheduled with 3 stops in lake towns on the way to Salzburg. Very interesting and relaxing. Would highly recommend! Thanks!

This was a great day trip to Vienna with added bonus of visiting the Austria Lake Area and St. Gilgen. St. Gilgen is a great bonus to the visit to Salzburg.

Right from the first interaction with Flemming to the drive to Salzburg & back, it has been one of my favorite parts of the trip. Flemming was not only kind & courteous, he was exceptionally knowledgable & patiently walked us through the entire history of Austria and the war. It was indeed a pleasure to drive with him. Salzburg is a quaint tiny town with some fantastic views and the Mozart house. Please do not miss that incase you head there. I fell in love with the Gilget town where we stopped on the way to Salzburg. Another star was the red Bull HQ pointed out to us by Flemming on our way to salzburg. Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the day!
