With a crew focused entirely on you, make your way past rugged lava cliffs, isolated coastal villages, and the famous Elephant Rock formation in Capelas, all at your own pace.
Keep an eye out for local birdlife and flying fish along the way. When it's time for a swim, the captain will find a spot that's entirely your own, tucked into the volcanic coastline with no one else around.
Then comes the absolute best part of the trip: the Mosteiros Islets. These giant volcanic rock formations rise straight out of the Atlantic. They look unlike anything else on the island, and you will get right up close to see them.

Capelas
Capelas is a historic village on São Miguel’s north coast, once a hub for whale hunting. Today, it’s known for its volcanic coastline, old whaling station ruins, and strong ties to Azorean maritime life.
Mosteiros
Mosteiros is a picturesque village on São Miguel’s west coast, known for its black lava rocks, natural pools, and stunning sunsets. Its name comes from offshore islets that resemble a monastery.

5.00The original tour was canceled because of bad weather. It was rearranged to the next morning, unfortunately, when we were ready to get on the boat, the rain get heavy and we waited for 15 minutes and the tour was canceled again. Since I need to catch the flight in the afternoon, there is no way to rearrange another tour. Such a pity. But the service of this agency is supreme and all the staff there are very friendly. When I asked about the pickup time the previous day, they told me there is no pickup. When I complained that according to the program introduction on Viator, there is a pickup and also on my ticket, there is a pickup. They realized that they left outdated information on the Viator. And they offered me all the convenience. The offered me a pickup at first. When it was rearranged, they allowed me to take luggage with me and offered me a drop-off at the airport afterwards. Ester also tole me how they design the program and some history of the island. Really appreciate all they did for me.

5.00The journey was especially meaningful to contemplate the island’s north coast, battered by the intense storms of the North Atlantic. Along the way, one begins to understand the geomorphological evolution of this volcanic island — shaped by continuous natural processes, especially the erosive force of the sea — which has carved out an exuberant landscape where every cave and cliff seems to hold a story of its own. The northern coast is marked by distinct geomorphological features: pronounced textures and layers of volcanic soil formed by successive eruptions — as deeply etched as the wrinkles on the faces of the fishermen of Rabo de Peixe, scars of the effort and courage it takes to confront the harsh fate and vastness of the ocean. [PT] The trip is a remarkable experience. Being natural from the village of Rabo de Peixe, it was special to be able to contemplate the north coast of the island, crushed by the intense storms of the North Atlantic. Along the way, it is possible to understand the geomorphological evolution of this volcanic island, shaped by continuous natural processes - in particular, by the erosive action of the sea - that carve a lush landscape, where each cave and every scarp has a story to tell. The north coast is full of geomorphological marks - pronounced textures and layers of volcanic soil formed by successive eruptions - as wrapped as the wrinkles on the faces of the men of the sea of Rabo de Pisces, scars of the effort and the courage to face the hardness of the fado and the vastness of the ocean.

5.00I went on the tour with AG Expeditions and had an absolutely fantastic experience! From start to finish, the team was very friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. The boat was comfortable and well-equipped. The scenery was breathtaking, and we even got to see fishermen capturing fish right next to our boat, which made the day even more special.
