This food tour takes you away from the old town and into the Grbavica neighborhood, where real life takes place in Sarajevo.

You’ll taste 6 authentic Bosnian dishes in full portions – enough to replace a full meal. The restaurants visited are not tourist places, but where locals eat.

At the same time, you will get insights that go beyond food : you will move through a residential district, visit local meeting places and also pass the Grbavica Stadium – a place of great emotional and historical significance for Sarajevo.

Thanks to the small group size (maximum 8 people), a personal atmosphere is created, which makes it possible to visit places that are inaccessible to larger groups.

This tour is less of a classic food tour – and feels more like an afternoon exploring Sarajevo through food with a local friend.

We took an afternoon food tour with Nermin. We looped around the district of Grbavica and tried many different local dishes, snacks, deserts & drinks. Nermin made history come to life in the still bullet-holed residential area, guiding us through the darkest to the happiest days of this beautyful part of the city, making it immersive with fotos & videos of past times. We had a great time, lots of laughs and Nermin accommodated well for my mother-in-law who had trouble keeping up due to arthritis. Big big recommendation for Nermin & Kathrins tour company and this tour especially for foodies and history buffs. Loved it!

What a fantastic experience! Numa showed us parts of the city that tourists surely don’t visit. We tried some excellent home-cooked food, learned a lot about recent history, and visited the local football club stadium that had so much history to tell, had some great burek, Bosnian craft beer and some dessert that I’ve never seen before. It was some cooked apple with walnut cream inside and whipped cream on top! Amazing! I would definitely recommend this tour!

Sarajevo is so much more than the old town! My personal highlight was that we got inside the stadium of FK Željezničar and even on the pitch! I learned a lot about their history! Also, I loved it in the “ascinica”! Hearty home-cooked food at it’s best!
