Explore one of the Hardangerfjord’s most secluded fjord branches on a guided RIB safari from Norheimsund. This small-group boat tour takes you deep into Fyksesund, a narrow and peaceful fjord arm surrounded by steep mountains and untouched nature.
We depart from Norheimsund and travel through the Hardangerfjord before entering Fyksesund, where the landscape becomes quieter and more remote. Along the way, your local captain slows down at selected points so you can enjoy the scenery and take photos. We stop outside Botnen, a historic roadless settlement, and hear stories about fjord life, culture, and local history.
Fyksesund changes character throughout the year. In spring and after rainfall, waterfalls stream down the mountainsides. In winter, many freeze into striking ice formations.
This RIB safari combines speed, comfort, and storytelling, offering a memorable fjord experience in every season.

The Samlafjord is a wider section of the Hardangerfjord with great view towards the mountains and small villages along the fjord.
Kvamsøy has a weather station from the Meteorological Institute that sends weather data four times a day to the entire world, a so-called synoptic station. The weather station is located at Austerhaugen. There is also a small beacon, which is still in operation, on this mound. There are several burial mounds on both Kvamsøy and Tjuvholmen, and bus discoveries have been made from both the Bronze Age and the Iron Age, between other parts of a bronze ax.

Fantastic trip with friendly guide, who gave information about the area and also drove the boat just right, fast enough to give us a thrill but feeling totally safe. We came off the boat grinning. Was a bit worried it wouldn’t be worth the bus ride from Bergen, but the bus ride was easy and comfortable and the tour perfectly timed to fit around the bus schedule. Was also worried it wouldn’t be too cold in February, but the kit supplied kept us super warm.

Travelled by bus from Bergen in a very snowy Norway. Our Rib safari was fantastic, fresh, cold but utterly stunning and our guide was great and very knowledgeable about the small towns we visited. One of the reasons we booked was to get up close with the waterfalls when we got to them they were completely frozen! Which was even more spectacular than could have imagined. We lucked out with the weather, flat calm in the small fjord branches, breathtaking! thanks so much for out trip and thanks to our guide!

We booked this trip because we wanted a completely different way to experience the fjords, and it certainly did not disappoint. Seeing the stunning Norwegian landscape from the water gave us a totally unique perspective that you simply would not get any other way. Our guide was exceptional throughout friendly, knowledgeable, and professional and made us feel safe and comfortable on the RIB at all times, even when travelling at speed. It was an unforgettable experience and one we would highly recommend to anyone looking to see the fjords from a new and exciting viewpoint.

The best excursion of our Bergen trip. Thor was an amazing guide. The RIB was exciting and his stories intriguing. It was very exciting between hit the waves full on and doing circles at speed on the lakes. But then tranquil passing under the trickle of the waterfalls up close. Would highly recommended

Was a great experience the guide/boat driver was gun and informative. Super nice. You wear a full warm suit and life vest and goggles so you stay warm and enjoy the experience. Recommend bringing a clear phone case around the neck to be able to take pictures throughout the experience with no fear of losing it.
