Our Highland Lochs and Glens bike tour is the ideal day out for cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts who really want to get out into nature and be at one with some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery. Your friendly and experienced bike guide will accompany you along a 18 mile (30 km) segment of national cycle route 7, through the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. An area known for its mountains, lochs and ancient forest. Its hard not to be inspired by some of the most stunning Highland landscapes in the country. No wonder this is considered to be one of the most scenic cycle routes in Scotland.

Choice of quality manual bikes or pedal assist ebikes, for a more relaxed experience.

This tour includes an optional short hike around the scenic balquhidder braes - Weather and group abilitly dependent.

Transfers from Edinburgh accommodation are included in cost of tour. Pick up between 08:00 and 08:30.

Bring card or cash for lunch stop at an award winning cafe/bar.

Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness

Route is mainly on cycle paths an quiet country roads.

Route is approximately 19 miles / 30 km in length, with an overall ascent of 400 feet / 130 meters).

Cycling at a relaxed pace.

E-bikes are available for a more relaxed cycling experience.

Participants must be comfortable riding a bicycle

Wear comfortable casual/leisure clothing and footwear. Dress appropriately according to weather conditions

Lunch stop available at popular cafe/restaurant serving dishes containing locally sourced ingredients. Catering for vegan, dairy and gluten free. Cash or card accepted

My husband and I spent 10 days in Scotland and our Highlands bike tour day with Johann was our favorite day of the trip. All the details were taken care of and we had a great day on the bikes. Comfortable transportation, a delicious lunch, and we learned so much. We would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone looking to have a fun day in the Highlands!

Johan was engaging and fun. We enjoyed our e-bike tour and recommend it. He was very kind as well- he drove to our hotel the next day to drop off a pair of sunglasses zi left on the tour. His use of his time to correct my mistake shows you what this personalized tour is like.

If a beautiful bike ride through gorgeous Highland countryside with a small group of new friends with a stress-free lunch at a lovely small-town bistro sounds like fun: Then this is the day trip for you. If sitting for 12 hours on a bus breathing other people’s body odors while intermittently stopping to take a picture of a house that was in a Harry Potter film is more your thing- don’t go on this tour. The choice is yours…choose wisely. I believe I did when I picked this bike tour. I had a blast.

Johann gave us a great tour. The bikes were top notch. He provided everything we needed including gloves for our cooler ride. He took us to a very quaint restaurant for lunch that had a variety of good options. He was very knowledgeable about the area and was very interesting to talk to. The scenery was beautiful and very peaceful. A great way to experience life beyond the city. Fully recommend.

Johann was our bike guide for the day and we knew when we met him, it was going to be a good day. We stopped a few times along the way at small towns and historic sites. Johann is a local, so he was able to give us the historic info and the interesting local folklore. It was a fun way to learn! The views on the van ride to the Highlands and Trossachs National Park Park were amazing. The bike trip was so much fun. We rode on an old train trail winding along the beautiful countryside. Even a drenching rain didn’t dampen our fun. We stopped at a local restaurant for lunch, warmed up and dried off a bit before starting on the second part of the bike tour which was equally fun. We would highly recommend this trip, especially with Johann!!

We booked the Freedom Bike Tour with manual bikes. The tour group was small and included one other couple. We all had an amazing day biking with spectacular views. The pace was just right and we made several stops to learn about the region and history. This was a highlight of our trip and one of the best organized bike tours I have participated in. Thanks Johann!

Wonderful from start to finish. A fantastic way to go see some highlands for a day, get in a really fun ride, see some cool sights and learn a few things. Also, the place Johann picked for a lunch stop was unexpectedly great. Highly recommended.
