This excursion is for those of you who want to experience a lot in a single day. We start early in the morning and visit Kachikally Crocodile pool, Serekunda market, Lamin lodge, The wood carving factory in Brikama, Paradise Beach in Sanyang and Tanji fish market. This is a whole-day trip. Make sure to bring water and sunscreen!
NOTE: Admission fees, Kachickally Crocodile Pool 100GMD (2025) and fees for boat trip in Lamin Lodge are not included in the price.
The price of the boat trip varies depending on duration and boat type.

What To Expect
Kachikally Crocodile Pool
The Kachikally Crocodile Pool is one of three sacred crocodile pools in the Gambia. The crocodile is a symbol of fertility and the sacred sites are still used for rituals by women who find difficulties getting pregnant. The legend of crocodiles bringing fertility to women dates back 500 years when the Bojang family first settled in the area. It’s said that the fertility spirit rewarded their kindness by providing them with a magic pool. All they had to do was populate it with wildlife. So, they put two crocodiles in the pool. Locals believe that the original two are ancestral to the crocodiles who inhabit it today. Kachikally crocodile pool is nestled within six acres of tropical forest and there are plenty of nature trails and footpaths to follow if you want to see more of the park.
Brikama Craft Market
Brikama is the second largest city after Serekunda and the Brikama woodcarving factory is the largest woodcarving factory in the Gambia. Approximately 200 woodcarvers sell their creations here and you can find various items made from different woodtypes.

Crocodile encounter

5.00Communication with the guide was clear and concise pick up time was as scheduled. firstly we went to the crocodile pool. only 100 dilasi to enter our guide Jarry took us through the museum which she was very knowledgeable regarding the history of the Gambia and different tribes and traditional dress and instruments, which we found very interesting. moving through we came to the pool where the crocodiles were emerging from the water to sun themselves this seemed quite eerie as there were no fence and they were literally upon your feet. the guides from inside the sanctuary advised us which ones to touch and told us not to go near the head this felt really weird to be stroking a 7 foot monster! After the crocs we went to the market which was extremely busy and they sold absolutely everything. We then took the trek to Lamin Lodge where we took the boat trip around the mangroves and to the elephant tree where the locals hid from the Americans from slavery again the history is very fascinating. we cut our safari short as we were exhausted but we had great experience and will definitely do this again when back in Gambia and allow more time to complete it. many thanks to Jimmy and Jarry for a wonderful experience.

4.00A great experience of Gambian life I got to see and touch crocodiles. Saw the mango trees with muscles and the impressive 850 old cotton tree which you can walk in. Lunch on Sanyang beach was gorgeous but the service was poor. The best for me was the fish market at Tanji. You get that iconic view of the hustle and bustle of Gambians trading. All accompanied by Sari who was always making sure I was happy and safe.

5.00The tour operator is a family business. My tour guide, Jimmy, is a pretty young girl but shows experience and professionalism. Although not all spots were attractive, there are some highlights including the fishing market, which is unique and local.

The best guide in town very kind and gentle, made us a wonderful trip... we spend 1 week in the smiling cost and the visits we've maid with Jimmy were all the best of our trip. I would definitely do it again and i recommend to everyone who would like to visit the country. Me personally I just have to say thank you because he maid us feel safe and secure and the welcoming he give us was the best. definitely do it again!!!!! Merciiiiiii
