If you’re visiting Charleston, do yourself a favor and book a walking tour with Kay — she is absolutely phenomenal. Kay brings Charleston’s history to life in a way that’s engaging, informative, and genuinely fun. Her knowledge of the city is incredible, and she shares stories you won’t find in guidebooks. Whether it’s historic landmarks, hidden alleyways, or local legends, she makes every stop feel meaningful. What really sets Kay apart is her personality — warm, funny, and clearly passionate about what she does. She keeps the group entertained the entire time while still making sure everyone feels included and comfortable. If you want more than just a basic tour and actually want to experience Charleston, Kay is the guide you need. Highly recommend!

I recently had the pleasure of taking a walking tour in Charleston, SC, with Kay Abrams, and I truly cannot recommend her enough. From the moment the tour began, Kay brought the city’s rich history to life in a way that was both engaging and easy to follow. Her knowledge is incredibly impressive, but what really sets her apart is how she delivers it, never dull or overwhelming, but instead fun, interactive, and full of personality. Kay has such a warm, outgoing, and friendly demeanor that instantly puts everyone at ease. She kept our group interested the entire time, blending fascinating historical details with entertaining stories that made the experience memorable. On top of that, she’s a fantastic resource for local recommendations. Whether you’re looking for great places to eat, visit, or explore further, Kay is more than happy to share her insider tips. As someone visiting from Chicago, I can honestly say this was one of the highlights of my trip. If you’re planning a visit to Charleston, do yourself a favor and book a tour with Kay; you won’t be disappointed! Smile, Suzanne Halaska

Our 12 year old granddaughters loved the walking tour with Rachel. She was kind and engaging, not only with them, but with the four adults on the tour as well. She was very knowledgeable and taught all of us a lot about the history of Charleston. We were grateful for a small group of 6 people. There were many other large groups that we were able to pass along the way. Their guides were having to talk really loud to be heard by all the people in their groups, and of course, we were able to move a lot faster and probably saw a lot more than they did. (Thank you Kay for having Rachel be our guide while you were away!)

Kay is such a vibrant guide, filled with great stories and outstanding knowledge of the history and topography of Charleston. We were fortunate to be joined by a single, lovely couple and the five of us enjoyed the tour immensely. I would certainly recommend Kay to anyone looking for a broad understanding of how very special this beautiful city is.

Charming tour of historic Charleston. Kay brings to life the history (both the glory and gloom) from the Revolutionary War to the rebirth and conservation of the city. She is knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. Highly recommend!

Kay is an absolute gem. Her depth of knowledge about Charleston is remarkable — she brings the city’s history, architecture, and stories to life in a way that feels effortless and engaging. What really sets her apart is how intentionally she keeps her groups small. It means she can tailor the tour to what you care about, whether that’s food, history, architecture, or hidden local details you’d never find on your own. She’s also incredibly kind. She makes everyone feel welcome, included, and comfortable, and she has a wonderful way of reading the group’s energy and adjusting the pace and focus so it always feels personal. If you want a tour that’s thoughtful, informative, and genuinely enjoyable, Kay is the one to book. She made Charleston feel even more special.
