Our guide was brilliant. We got to try some street food we wouldn't normally have done but the guide also went above and beyond when we wanted to try things that weren't part of the tour. He explained everything really well and went out of his way to advise us on what to do for the rest of our trip. Highly recommend.

This was the most immersive experience during our trip to Senegal. The host and his wife welcomed us like family. The trip to the market was just ads important as preparing the food for cooking. Since this was our first item on the “to do list,” it gave us strangers the opportunity to learn one another. The family cooks without a recipe book, even while cooking for our group of 10 people. Our meal was the best meal we had in the two weeks we were visiting. Definitely worth the visit!!!

I was very lucky because I had the guide all to myself (something that seems to happen a lot)! I was extra lucky because we met right outside my hotel, so we didn't walk far at all and I was surprised to see how much food there was in 'my' neighbourhood that I'm pretty sure I would never have found (or tried) myself. So I finally got to try things I had seen before but not dared to eat, and it was sooooo good. Also had some coffee and attaya (tea). Then we went to Ngor island for a bit, where, surprise, I had more food! I was so full by the end of it (once we were back on Ngor beach, yet more food) I did not need dinner that night. My guide, Pape, was super nice and explained everything we ate (and luckily helped with the eating too). If you like to try new food, I'd highly recommend!

Pape was prompt and friendly. I would have loved to have learned more about the food I was eating, where/how it was sourced, etc. -- for example, if we're eating fish, share more about Senegal's fishing culture and economy. Or if we're trying maad, tell me what it is and what region it comes from. The tour felt more like just walking around and eating vs being immersed in the culture. Otherwise, the food was delicious.

Pape was an excellent tour guide. He went above and beyond to make sure I got the best food in Dakar! Not only that, he went out of his way to escort me to various places and we had such an amazing time. I would 100% book with him again when I come back to Senegal. He made a huge positive impact on my trip and I am forever grateful to him!

We had a great time on the Senegalese street food tour with Pape! It was our first day in Dakar and a wonderful introduction to Senegalese cuisine. All the food we ate was delicious. Pape went above and beyond as a guide, highly recommend.
