A truly special moon-lit walk up Seoul's Naksan Mountain

5.00Remarkable, interesting and very enjoyable history walk through a unique part of Seoul. Starting in Seouls University district, we were taken of a walk through the University and performing arts district, up through Ehwa mural village, and up through Naksan Mountain to Naksan Park and ultimately, Hanyang City Wall, K-Drama fans will recognize many sites and icons. The walk itself is at a leisurely pace, but has some steep inclines and stairs, but with many rest stops, convenience store and bathroom breaks it is doable (our group ages spanned teens to seniors, but do wear comfortable shoes as you will put in your 10,000 steps!). At the end, we stopped at one of the many cafe's on the Naksan mountain walk to rest and reflect on the walk itself. The weather for us was a warm, cloudless day, and when the sun set, it was quite spectacular, illuminating the surrounding four Seoul inner mountains. The (almost) full moon came out, along with Venus and Jupiter, that showcased the beauty of historic and modern Seoul at night. Amazing! Jessica, our guide, was bright, cheerful and watched out for the group, making sure everyone was as comfortable as possible. Speaking through portable mic and provided earpieces, she keep the mood light, but informative, on topics like the higher education culture of Korea, arts scene, history of the "moon villages", K-drama and K-Pop iconography, cafe culture, and the history of Seoul City Wall. Highly recommended!
