Your private guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Samarkand and escort you to the Uzbekistan–Tajikistan border. Upon arrival, you’ll cross the border on foot, complete the necessary formalities, and continue the journey to Penjikent
Journey to Marghuzor, the initial lake, located at an altitude of 1,640 m. Its name means "eyelashes" in Tajik. The lake is celebrated for its vivid colors. Afterward, you will head to Soya Lake. Its name translates to "shadow" because this lake is situated between towering cliffs, keeping it in shade for most of the day. The third lake, Gushor, is located just 400 meters from Soya. These two lakes are linked by a flowing stream. Named "watchful," this lake is encircled by steep cliffs. The fourth lake, known as Nofin, is the main lake, which translates to "umbilical cord" owing to its length of 2.5 km. The fifth lake, which lies 1.5 km from Nofin and passes through the picturesque village of Pardut, is Khurdak lake, meaning "the baby," as it is the smallest of the seven. The sixth lake, Marguzor, is the largest and, for many, the most stunning of the Seven Lakes.

The 7 Lakes experience in Tajikistan was truly amazing and definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Each lake has its own unique beauty, and the journey itself is just as enjoyable as the destination. Lake 3 was probably the least impressive for me, but it is still nice and worth seeing as part of the full experience. From there it just keeps getting better. Lake 6 was my personal favorite with stunning views and a really peaceful atmosphere. Lake 7 is absolutely worth the wait. It feels like a reward at the end of the journey. There is even a small beach like area where you can sit, relax, and take in the surroundings. It is the perfect spot to unwind after the drive. Overall, I would highly recommend visiting the 7 Lakes. It is a beautiful and memorable experience that I would happily do again.

Everything was organised very smooth. The driver met us near the hotel. The car was clean & comfortable. Another driver & a guide met us in Tajikistan. Everybody was friendly & helpful. Bottled water & lunch was also included. We could choose what to eat. Also surprisingly there were quite a few toilets on the way. Including one very clean, with running water & paper. I would recommend to go in the summer because in April lakes were still not full of water so it didn’t look as impressive ad it looks in summer. But still it worth going. And be prepared for a very long drive. You really spend more time in a car than outside. I wouldn’t blame the trip organisers for this. This place is just far away.

We had a great day the seven lakes. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the Tadjikistan border. In Tajikistan another driver picked us up and we had a great and scenic drive to the seven lakes. Our driver was very professional and we always felt safe on these roads. Although it’s all in all a long day it’s worth it.

Our tour started with a pickup from our hotel in Samarkand by our first guide, Ozod, who was wonderful and gave us some helpful tips about Samarkand during our drive to Tajikistan border. On the Tajik side, we were met by Azim and our driver Shurik. Azim told us many interesting stories and shared some history about Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which added nice context to the trip. He also took us to buy a delicious lunch that we ate before reaching Lake No. 7. At each lake he explained its background and significance, and we did a bit of walking too, as per our request. The tour was nearly 11 hours door to door, so be prepared for a long day. Because it was a day trip, there wasn’t much hiking involved — simply no time for it. I recommend this tour if you only have one day to see the lakes. If you have more time, staying near the lakes for 2–3 days would give you a much better feel for the area. Our driver Shurik was extremely experienced — I would never attempt those mountain roads myself. I was very pleased with all our guides — Ozod in Samarkand, and Azim and Shurik in Tajikistan — and I felt very safe with them throughout the trip. Thanks very much for this great experience.

It was a surprisingly good adventure. Very refreshing, majestic snow cap mountain, extraordinary lakes and captivating water falls. The guide made all these even more enjoyable. Our guide was caring, informative and courteous. He even recommended us to a good restaurant for a meal. Great

This trip was absolutely unforgettable! The Seven Lakes are a great spot to visit. What truly made the experience special, though, was our guide, Amin. His positivity, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm made the whole journey even more enjoyable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for both stunning scenery and great company! The cherry on top was the dinner Amin invited us to, a great restaurant to eat the best plov in the world!!!! Thanks Amin:)
