One day trip to native town of Amir Timur - Shahrisabz (the green city). 90 minute drive along picturesque mountain road dotted with small villages. Once there visit the remains of colossal palace – Ak Saray (white palace), Dorus Saodat Complex, Dorut Tilavat Complex, Kok Gumbaz Mosque and centuries old national applied arts during your visit.
Short trekking over the mountains or those whose who like may walk around local colorful Bazaar.

What To Expect
Shahrisabz
Pick up & drive along the picturesque Takhat-Karacha mountain pass, 3 photo stops to capture the beauty of this mountain.
This vast complex was the burial place of the ruling family and contained a prayer hall, a mosque and accomodation for the religious community and pilgrims. The main facade was decorated with white marble and the tomb of Temur is a masterpiece of art of this period. Dorus Saodat Complex dates from the same time as Ak-Saray. Construction works began in 1379.

5.00Our driver Farid was so accommodating and kind. He didn’t speak English, but we used google translate and had a great time learning from each other. He took us to the absolute best lunch spot called Katta Tosh Tabdir with the most wonderful lamb we have ever had. He also took us to a gorgeous hiking spot upon request after the Shahrisabz tour. Our guide in Shahrisabz, Ms. Firuza was so kind and taught us everything there was to know about the history of the palace, mausoleums, mosques, and everything else we encountered in the city. Overall a fabulous experience and just great people all along the way!

5.00Excellent day tour with driver and local guide and 2 students who were learning English. Small town but guide covered everything about the town including Amir Temur. Very green garden town very unusual in Uzbekistan with all the mountains in the background. Would definitely recommend this tour for anyone travelling from Samarkand.

4.00It is worthwile to visit Sharishabz with a guide. The interaction before the trip was proactive and transparent. Damir was a very safe driver, the car was comfortable and very clean. Our guide Max was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent english. I recommend to start the tour early to beat all the other tourist groups. Lunch (optional / not included in price) was eaten on the mountain pass - the food was rather mediocre and pricey.

5.00Feruza is a great guide and she is well versed on the history of Shahrisabz! She is kind and also has strong English. The site itself was cool to see if you’re looking for a day trip from Samarkand and are interested in learning more about Amir Timur. Zafar was also a kind driver and very patient, would recommend this excursion if you’re interested in history!

5.00I really enjoyed this tour. Amir, the tour operator, sent me the itinerary of the tour beforehand so I knew what to expect. He also contacted me after the tour to ask for feedback, which I really appreciated. The drive to Shahrisabz is very safe thanks to the driver Timur. We drove past some impressive mountain range, where I witnessed the lives of local Uzbek people. In Shahrisabz, I met up with my local guide Firuza who spoke fluent English and was very familiar with the history of her country. We had a fun time at the bazaar, where I tried out local snacks. Shahrisabz is a quaint little town with lovely locals. I would recommend this tour to everyone who is in Samarkand and who would like to see what authentic Uzbek life is like.
