What To Expect
The Game is afoot... It doesn't matter if you are a die hard traditionalist or a modern BBC "Sherlock" fan. I am a nerd for everything Sherlock Holmes and have got you covered! This tour is designed to give you details on the history and locations of the original Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and important filming locations from the recent BBC series. This tour also covers some great London landmarks like St Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, The Strand, and the place where William Wallace (Braveheart) was executed. Starting at Embankment station you will be given an overview of the traditional stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle before your guide takes you to the Sherlock Holmes Pub (a location from Hound of the Baskervilles) The upper rooms contain a recreation of Sherlock's sitting room at 221b Baker Street. Then its on to Scotland Yard and the location where Inspector's Lestrade and Hopkins work. Not that Holmes has a particularly high opinion of the Yard Detectives!

Now its time to see a famous location from the BBC Sherlock series. Remember the scene where Holmes and Watson have just met and are having dinner. They spot a suspicious taxi, Watson leaves his walking stick behind, and they run through the streets trying to catch the Taxi. We will make a stop at that very restaurant!

5.00We were lucky that we got Richard - the founder of the tour. Also, our tour was smaller (3ppl) so we got to go inside some of the places and see a bit more. We’re not huge Sherlock fanatics, but we love the BBC series. Richard did a great job of not only pointing out the Sherlock specific locations, but also contextualized places we passed by that might be significant to us - like Benjamin Franklin’s house and his history in London. He was really great at making sure we got the pictures we wanted. So cool to see the spot where Sherlock stages his death from the series. There were plenty of stops to use the restroom and get water/coffee. The directions were spot on - make sure you read where to meet him.

5.00Here I give some of my impressions of the "Sherlock Holmes Tour". My guide was excellent and the chemistry between us was right from the first moment - it was like we had known each other for a long time. Because there were no further registrations, I had a private tour - I enjoyed every second. My guide was very patient and good at the topic, I was able to ask all my questions and always got a competent answer. Feel very in good hands and was able to take a lot of background information, some of which I did not yet know. The tour was very relaxed and there was enough time for photos and so on in all locations. For me as a big Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) fan there were very nice, funny but also emotional hours that I never want to miss. I would book this tour again at any time and can only recommend it to any Sherlock fan! Unfortunately I have lost the name of my guide - I'm not very good at it; =)) Hope he doesn't resent me. It was not just a job for him where he says everything down monotonously and from a little learned - NO - he was noticed every second that Sherlock's passion is also burning in him - I really liked that because it was the whole tour also made authentic! Thank you for getting to know you and for the beautiful, eventful and informative hours with you .....

He provided the perfect balance of the history of Sherlock Holmes, information and filming sites of the BBC series (we are huge fans!), and history of London (a welcome bonus to the tour). I highly recommend Richard and his tours! When we are in London again, we will be booking with him!

5.00Wonderful guide! We heard about and saw lots of sites from both the books as well as the BBC version we loved so much, nit to even mention the small historical tidbits we learned along the way. This tour does require quite a bit of walking, but it is well-paced and the tube provides some opportunities to sit and rest.
