What To Expect
This is a general tour itinerary. Please note that changes may occur due to weather conditions. Please prepare your own swimwear and towels. 1.We will pick you up from your accommodation around Shimoda city or you can meet us at Shimoda One Cafe, just a 3-minute walk from Izukyu-Shimoda Station. The tour starts as we get into the private car. Surfing at Shirahama Beach We will park at the nearest parking lot. Surfboards and wetsuits will be provided. Drive back to your accommodation or station.

Fun and safe snorkelling tour

5.00Shun San was awesome! He speaks perfect English and some Chinese! We did a snorkelling tour one day and then private surfing guide next day! He was very patient, and keeps a safety first mindset, which I think is very important in travelling. We managed to see a beautiful underwater world snorkelling and enjoyed surfing in Shirahama. Highly recommended!

5.00Shun was an amazing guide! He took me on a hike to see the Kawazu Seven Waterfalls. We also went snorkeling afterwards. He knows his way around all the beaches and chose one based on the strength of the wind and currents. His wife also owns a coffee shop which I went to afterwards and she sells delicious coffee!

5.00We had 2 great surfing lessons with Shun - perfectly customized to our needs. We have 3 small kids, so it was a big advantage that we could freely choose our timetable. At the end of the Sessions, we both were able to stand the wave!!! Yeahhh The entire equipment was included and there was a locker for our belongings and a shower for afterwards. Shun and his family also run a two level shop in Shirahama with great ice cream and very nice beach bags :) We can totally recommend to book with this kind family.
Best Experience in Shimoda for outdoor, water people and nature lovers.

5.00This tour is not to be missed! Shun-san is a multi generational local with family owned businesses in Shirahama Beach. He shares his passion and love of the area with a huge smile on his face. We went on a hike in the mountains to seven waterfalls; that we never would have gotten to experience on our own. He also took the husband surfing ( I snorkeled) which was the highlight of the trip! Shirahama is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen - and I have seen plenty. Great Experience!!!

5.00I had an incredible time exploring Shimoda with my new friend, Shun (Shimoda Local Guide). Without Shun, I would have been limited to the bus routes (very limited bus service), but with him, I got to experience Shimoda in the best way possible. He picked me up, and we spent our days surfing, fishing, hiking, eating yakiniku—perfect days. Since he grew up in Shimoda, he has a deep knowledge of the area and connection to the city and its people. Shun was ready to go with any activity I wanted to do (including any gear you might need) — I can’t wait to go back!

5.00There is something very special about having a local guide share their knowledge and connection with a place while you are visiting. My partner and I booked a day tour with Shun who took us around Izu’s east coast and southern tip. He is a highly skilled surfer and water activity specialist. We explored breathtaking scenery, beautiful secluded white sand beaches and had a very memorable surf. His knowledge of the local area and its people was exceptional. I highly recommend Shun for water activities, surf lessons / guide for experienced surfers and tours for exploring Izu!

5.00Shun was a fantastic guide and driver. When we weren’t able to rent a car, Shun’s service saved us allowing us to see some of Izu’s iconic sights. We did not originally want a typical “guided tour” where you follow strict stops, and are overloaded with unnecessary facts that you never remember. Shun was perfect in that respect - great casual conversation about lots of different topics, and just the right amount of local knowledge and insights that made for an amazing experience that was so much better than self-driving. He tailored a full day tour for us based on our interests and took us to an amazing seafood restaurant for lunch. Very grateful for this wonderful memorable experience of Izu 🙏🏼
