as part of a tour of the island is a great stop for both the wreck (and its history) and the surrounding beach

Despite booking weeks in advance, the trip was cancelled without explanation the evening before we were due to go. Poor show.

The ride out to Atalanta beach is roughest on the island. Its tough going. The government declines to improve the road as their experts say it wont last long enough to justify the expenses. Guides show you pictures over the years how the wreck is degrading.

The road to it is an adventure in itself and then the beach, the sea with the wreck. More than worth it if you like this kind of thing.

What a great trip we had with Emmuel and his driver. Rabil pottery was small but lovely gifts to buy. My husband had a go at sandboarding in the desert was fun. The shop wreck was great to see for real better than photos and had a drink and icecream stop.in Sal Rei. Recommend this trip
