Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park is the oldest proclaimed national park in Southern Africa and where the rhino populations were saved from extinction in the 1960s. It is home to the Big 5 plus the majestic endangered Wild Dogs (also known as Painted Dogs), cheetahs and other African wildlife.

You will join Ashley in his closed SUV vehicle on a relaxed yet immersive African experience searching for wildlife, big and small, taking in the vast landscape, the stunning flora and fauna, and soaking up the sightings, sounds and smells of the African bush.

After a day on safari, you will understand this sentiment, there is something truly magical about spending time out on safari, watching wildlife in its natural habitat, and going about its everyday tasks!

Please note we will be searching for completely wild animals therefore no sightings are guaranteed.

What To Expect

Hluhluwe - iMfolozi Park Wilderness Area

Take a relaxed drive around the reserve looking for the Big 5 plus smaller wildlife. You will learn about the area, why it is an important wildlife biome, and explore the flora and landscape. Recent wildlife sightings will dictate the side of the park we explore, either iMfolozi OR Hluhluwe's side.

Excellent tour and guide/tracker. Ashley was very good at seeing animals in the distance. It was also a great learning experience. He quizzed us on what we were seeing and then provided the facts. It was an interesting approach. He is extremely knowledgeable about all the animals and imparted this knowledge in an entertaining manner.

We were picked up at the cruise port by Ashley. It was about 1 1/2 hour drive to the Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park. Ashley was so knowledgeable about all of the plants, animals and the land that we saw. He went out of his way to make the best possible experience for us. When he located an animal, he stopped for us to take photos and even took some of the pictures for us. Our picnic lunch was prepared by Ashley's wife. It was yummy, complete with wine. We enjoyed the monkeys and antelope grazing nearby as we ate. We returned to the cruise port after dark with great photos and wonderful memories. What a perfect day!

We had a fantastic day ! Ashley collected us from the ship and we enjoyed the drive to the park during which we chatted about South Africa and life there today . Once in the park we saw many animals and we could not have asked for a better guide . Ashley worked really hard to ensure we had a great day and we did ! Just book the tour !

December 11, 2024 was a day to remember! Our guide, Bonginkosi, was wonderful because he was so adept in finding many of the animals we would never have seen. Imagine seeing a group of resting Cheetahs. They blended in with the grass, but our guide saw them! Eagle eyes! Very informative, saw many wonderful animals. Our guide was patient and determined to make our day one to remember! Before our safari, the owners of the company answered our every question in a timely manner. They were wonderful. If you are thinking of booking this safari, Do it!

This was a great tour with the most amazing guide, I cannot say enough praise for this tour & the people that run it ( a husband & wife). The day was not very nice with rain but somehow the guide managed to get us to see almost every animal that there was, I don't think that without his knowledge we would have seen any. We booked this tour while on a cruise & All the other tours were cancelled because of the rain but our guide (Ashley) made it happen. The lunch was very good but changed to a cold lunch from a BBQ because of the rain. I give this tour & guide 5 stars. Do yourself a favor, book this tour & no other.

A memorable experience which was really enhanced by our knowledgeable guide Ashley, who ensured that we all shared his love for the large number of animals that we sighted on the day. So many highlights and a lovely picnic lunch which was just right for us. An ideal trip for day visitors to Richards Bay.

Little Bush Baby Safari Experience tour might be the best Trip Advisor/ tour we have ever taken in years of international travel. Our guide Ashley is passionate and highly educated about the fauna and floral of the South African bush. His tour of the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi national park exceeded our high expectations. We saw virtually all of the animals in a natural setting and learned so much about the history and culture of the area. The picnic lunch prepared by Ashley's wife Katie was superb and her pre-excursion communications were outstanding as we took this tour after arriving in Richard's Bay but cruise. We would give this company and tour a rating of 10 if permitted.
