Cawdor Castle
With turreted towers, elegant interiors and fairytale gardens, this atmospheric 14th-century Scottish castle blends legend, history and breathtaking scenery. Set among ancient woodland, it’s a must-visit for guests exploring the Scottish Highlands. On arrival, pick up an audio guide in your choice of language and tour at your own pace. Inside, step through centuries of aristocratic life—from the grand Drawing Room with Renaissance portraits and ornate plasterwork to the Tapestry Bedroom with striking 17th-century Flemish wall hangings. Don’t miss the famous Thorn Tree Room, where an ancient tree rises dramatically through the floorboards. Outside, enjoy beautiful gardens: the formal Flower Garden, the Walled Garden with exotic plants and winding paths, and the Wild Garden leading into 750 acres of forest walks. You have around 90 minutes to explore, visit the café and browse the gift shops. WOW guests can also pick up a packed lunch. Entrance & audio guide included in tour price.
Culloden Battlefield
Our first stop is at Culloden Battlefield, one of the most important battlefields in the UK. Here, your guide will bring the landscape to life on a 30-minute walking tour, as he enthralls you with the story of the last pitched battle on British soil; the Jacobite uprising of 1746. As you stand upon the windswept moor, it’s easy to imagine the bravery, sacrifice, and heartbreak that unfolded here, with echoes of the past lingering in the stillness. The haunting beauty of the landscape, combined with its tragic history, creates a deeply moving experience that will stay with you long after you leave.

Book the tour!! By far, WOW Scotland in Inverness was our favorite day on our trip. Murdoch was our tour guide for the day and he was phenomenal! He is a master at storytelling and kept us engaged through the whole trip. He is a treasure. My parents used WOW Scotland when they were in Inverness 9 years ago and we decided to use them this year as well. Easy pick up at the port, and dropped up within a comfortable amount of time prior to sailing. The van is comfortable, and can get into smaller areas so you see more than the larger tour busses. Don't hesitate - book with them.

Absolutely loved the tour, from being picked up in Invergordon and driven through the beautiful countryside to Inverness, seeing Cawdor Castle, The Battlefield of Culloden and Loch Ness (unfortunately no Nessie). Our bus driver and Tour Guide Murgagh (Mr. Fabulous), was a wealth of knowledge on the area and the history of Scotland, as well as an amazing story teller.

Can't say enough good things about this tour and our guide Murdoch. It was perfectly paced, giving a great view of the highlands and got us back to the ship in good time. Murdoch was exceptional, extremely knowledgeable and a professional storyteller who made everything so interesting. Gordon and Kay, the owners, were easy to work with when booking the tour with good communication. I highly recommend this tour and company.

Wow, by name and Wow! by nature. What a fabulous tour we had with Andrew at the helm and we had the bonus of Colin who was accompanying a friend. We were the early birds at Cawdor Castle - a fascinating insight into Scottish history. The castle staff were absolutely lovely and in the cafe we bought our good quality picnic lunch for the trip. The bacon quiche is delicious. Be sure and try the homemade scones with the local jam- excellent. From Cawdor we drove to Clava Cairns for some early early history. Andrew was exceptional in his delivery of fact and was fun. From there we went to Culloden Battlefield - a place of great significance to the Scottish. Andrew tours the battlefield and in the Centre run by National Trust there is an exhibition which shows the war from the two sides. Very poignant. From there we went onto Lough Ness for photos and a wee dram. Whilst driving Andrew regaled us with a four part story of the real Braveheart. You need to be on his tour to appreciate it. Everyone on board did. Well done Wow Tours Scotland. A very memorable tour! Highly recommend 10 Stars ********** #WOWScotlandTours
