The excursion was not as advertised. While the driver was very personable, unfortunately he admitted he was filling in for the regular guide who was on vacation. We had extra stops at moonshine and cider tastings which the group enjoyed. However, we often had no idea where we were, what we were seeing, and there was no historical information shared other than a few bits of well known general knowledge. I don't fault the driver, I fault the tour company for lack of cross training. Several on the trip felt the same way....spent $$ on a drive we could have done ourselves because nothing was learned about the history of the area. The scenery was gorgeous though and we all just tried to enjoy the day

I loved this tour. Dustin did it even though only 3 of us signed up. He's a history buff with family ties in both sides back to the early 1800s. For someone who has never been to the south or Tennessee it was a complete introduction to the area: the past, the present and future with insights into the locals, places to eat and go all amoung the beautiful National Park scenery. I highly recommend Dustin and the tour. A highlight of my 2 week trip from the west coast.

The tour left without us, so I can’t review the tour. Viator gave a different departure address than the local company did. Unfortunately, we went to Viator’s address that was provided in the booking details. When we arrived and the tour bus was not there, I pulled up the email and frantically looked for information and found the other address. I immediately called the local company 15 minutes before departure time. Their message said they don’t monitor voicemail and try text that number, which I immediately did to say we were on our way. They did not respond. By the time we got to the correct location, 4 minutes after departure time, the tour was gone. In an email exchange with local company they blamed Viator for not changing their incorrect booking information. The local company won’t offer a refund, only a gift card for future use. We live 9 hours away, so that is not useful. Viator will not stand behind their service and give us a refund either. So we are out $300.

TripAdvisor asked me to write a review on a tour that they cancelled on me the day before without notifying me before canceling. I would have liked to go on this tour, however, after talking to “customer service “ (which was not of any service) I was told all tours were booked and unavailable. She then told me she would keep in contact with me and that she emailed the tour company. Never heard from anyone. Very disappointed in both TripAdvisor, Viator and Tennessee Mountain Tours. I have been using two these companies for years. Not happy.

Even with the pouring rain, Dustin was,an amazing tour guide. He was considerate with his customers, entertaining with his information and great with his patience. I enjoyed the tales about his family and early life. Got great information on the start of the park. Loved it. Thanks.

Dustin was an excellent resource and gave us very interesting knowledge of the area. I would recommend this tour and lunch to gain a better understanding of the history and culture of the Park and surrounding area.

Beautiful views and lots of activities to do. Lodging and restaurants are usually busy so make reservations in advance, if possible. Locals have always been very friendly to us.
